Maskiell Rides 50th City Winner

Enzed GirlTrainer Robert Smerdon will chase black type with Enzed Girl who landed her first metropolitan win at Moonee Valley and gave apprentice Jason Maskiell his 50th city winner.

A daughter of Stravinsky, Enzed Girl was bred by and is raced by Sandown Lodge Pty Ltd Syndicate managed by John Dickson.

Dickson's father Alf raced many good horses including Tennessee Morn and True Version with legendary Caulfield trainer Angus Armanasco whose daughter Lynne is also involved in the syndicate.

"She overraced a touch but Jason found some cover and she found the line really well," Smerdon said.

Sent out at $5 in the tattsbet.com Hcp (1200m) Enzed Girl settled fourth of the 10 runners and came away in the slow going to score by 1-1/2 lengths from Flokkati (3.20 fav).

First starter Gunawati ($11), a Galileo filly prepared by Mark Kavanagh, finished a half-length away third after settling seventh in an eye-catching effort.

Jason Maskiell"She goes back to Tennessee Morn and those Tennessee horses. lt will be nice to get some black type with her," Smerdon said of Enzed Girl.

Out of the Danehill mare Nella Dane, Enzed Girl went through last year's Sydney Australian Easter Yearling Sale but was bought back by Sandown Lodge.

"They actually approached me before the sale because they were concerned they weren't going to get their money as she is offset at the knees and they asked me if she didn't sell would I take her," Smerdon said.

"I went and had a look at her before the sale and knew she wouldn't sell as buyers are so discerning now.

"So they passed her in but because she went through Easter she was eligible for Inglis bonus races as long as the premiums were paid and she picked up a $50,000 bonus for winning at Warrnambool (on May 6)."
