Morsonique Peaking At Nine

Morsonique Jumps CleanlyNine-year-old Tasmanian jumper Morsonique made it two wins on the trot in the $30,000 Redditch Steeplechase (3400m) at Betfair Park.

Morsonique ($4.40,$3.60) travelled on the pace from the outset and looked comfortable jumping cleanly throughout before moving clear prior to the final jump with the opposition off the bit chasing.

Trinder measured the last steeple carefully and went on to record a soft two and a half length victory over Our Santa ($4,$5) with almost three lengths away to Famous Prince ($2.80,$3.10).

Trainer Michael Trinder praised his son Adam's ride and pondered what could've been if he had the jumper as a younger horse.

Adam Trinder"Adam rode the horse very well today," said Trinder.

"I would've loved to have this horse as a five-year-old, he would've been a star.

"Adam compared him to Outstride, who won the 1995 Grand National at Flemington, this horse has a future and could be England bound later on," he added.

Adam Trinder concurred with his father's observations but downplayed the possibility of a European vacation.

He is a good wet tracker and has a great staying ability, but I don't think we should get ahead of ourselves," Trinder said.

"If we got him two years ago as a seven-year-old it would've been very interesting.

"We have both horses out at Bruce Cook's property Riverend Park and the team out there have taken the horses in as their own and are doing a great job with them," Trinder added.

The win is Morsonique's third over jumps from just five starts and takes the gelding's career earnings to more than $175,000.
