Storm Bursts At Sandown

Storm Burst in the Green CapPeter Moody and Luke Nolen are taking no prisoners in their quest for the Victorian trainers and jockey's premierships respectively combining to win the $30,000 Ken Hilton Super Vobis Handicap (1400m) with Storm Burst.

Storm Burst ($1.45,$1.40) was given the run of the race by Nolen, stalking the leader and making a stylish move on the point of the turn angling out and quickly taking the lead.

However a few strides after assuming control the well fancied Melted ($4.40,$5) flew down the outside of the track and clearly hit the front but was unable to sustain the run with Storm Burst fighting back to score by a half head on the line with five lengths to The Matriach ($15,$21) in third.

Moody observed a number of factors adding merit to the win including giving three and a half kilos to the runner up Melted.

Peter Moody"It was a good, tough win," said Moody.

"The second horse was the horse to beat on weights and I think my filly is looking for the paddock, but it looked too good an option to turn down."

An Autumn preparation looks on the cards with Moody expecting further improvement from the two-year-old daughter of Danehill Dancer.

"I think she will be a nice filly in the autumn," said Moody.

"She has a good upside, she is immature and will come back late spring for a little preparation."

The win was Nolen's first on the filly having recorded a third at his only other ride back in January but he was more than impressed with the performance.

"The other horse had the pull in the weights, but this horse is a winner," said Nolen.

"She was weighted to her best today and won, she was challenged and she rose to it.

"I think she will make a nice autumn horse," Nolen added.

Storm Burst has now won twice from four starts for almost $50,000 in prizemoney.
