Jockeys Suspended At Geelong

Stephen BasterStephen Baster and apprentice Jake Duffy were suspended from Tuesday’s meeting at the Geelong Synthetic.

Both riders were outed for careless riding.

Baster rode Mystic Mint in the $12,000 Lamby's Tavern 0 - 58 Handicap (1100m). He pleaded guilty of careless riding for allowing his mount to shift in when not sufficiently clear of Apache Lass and in turn causing interference to Bee Three and Big John.

With interference rated in the mid-range, Baster was suspended for 12 meetings (4 metro, 8 country) and will commence his ban immediately and return on Monday, August 2.

Earlier in the day, Duffy was suspended for ten meetings after causing interference aboard Beauty Gene in the $12,000 GRC Function Centre Maiden Plate (1300m) for two-year-olds.

Duffy, who was represented by fellow jockey James Winks during the inquiry, will be able to ride until Thursday and will return on August 2.
