Williams Adapts Quickly To Aussie Racing

Adaptor Scores An Easy WinCraig Williams wasted no time getting the winners rolling scoring on Adaptor in the $30,000 Mistegic Handicap (1200m) at Betfair Park.

It was William's first day back riding on Australian Soil, following a spell in Japan, and he rode to script scoring a comfortable win on the Chris Parry trained six-year-old.

Adaptor ($3.80,$4.40) was rated beautifully on the pace by Williams in a muddling run affair and showed a liking to the heavy conditions travelling comfortably to the corner before grinding away a solid two length win over Coolago ($8) with Jerrymac ($11,$12) a further length away.

For Chris Parry the win ended a two year run of outs for the gelding after stringing two wins together at the track in 2007.

Craig Williams"It was a long time between drinks," joked Parry.

"I'm glad they didn't change it to Geelong.

"This is his track and it looked the right race on paper," Parry added.

Parry was first to enjoy the services of the returning Williams and attributed the change of luck to the star hoop.

"Craig rode the horse a treat and when they were chop and changing in the first few furlongs Craig kept his head and that made the difference," said Parry.

Williams was just happy to get things going and admitted being happy to have his sights set on Spring after spending a day in the garden.

"It is great to come back in winter and get things kicked off," said Williams.

"I've had a few weeks off since I've been back to freshen up for the Spring.

"Yesterday my wife had me in the garden and it made me appreciate being able to hop in the car and head off to the races," Williams joked.

The win takes Adaptor's career earnings to almost $170,000 from just 35 starts.
