Sunline and Lonhro Head Yalumba Entries

Champion gallopers Sunline and Lonhro, who finished third and fourth respectively in Defier’s George Main Stakes in Sydney late last month, head the field for Saturday’s $402,000 Group One Yalumba Stakes (2000m) at Caulfield.

But the race is certainly no two horse contest with a number of other Group One winners in the field including La Bella Dama, Maguire, Prized Gem, Republic Lass, Sky Heights and Tully Thunder.

As well other highly credentialled entries include Distinctly Secret, Gold Lottey, Kaapstad Way, Paris Hearbeat, Spirit of Westbury, Tyrolean and Ustinov.

Tyrolean looked sharp when she galloped between races at Flemington today with the David Hall trained Royal Code. Without ever being extended by Andrew Findlay the well bred daughter of Danehill was nosed out on the line by her male compatriot in the gallop.

Sunline will have her final serious hit out for the race when she gallops at Flemington tomorrow morning at 6.30am. Regular race rider Greg Childs confirmed he will be at Flemington to partner her in her work tomorrow.

Lonhro meanwhile will be put through his paces just down the road at Moonee Valley. He hasn’t started in Melbourne since his tremendous Group One Caulfield Guineas win on the same program last year, in what at the time was described as one of the best fields the race had ever seen.

Gold Lottey, Kaapstad Way, Maguire and Tyrolean has also been entered by their respective connections in the Group Two Winning Edge Presentations Stakes (2400m) on the same day.
