Northerly Arrives in Melbourne Ready for Memsie

r7northerly2.jpg (12325 bytes)Champion West Australian galloper Northerly arrived in Melbourne last night in preparation for his first start in Victoria this campaign.

The Fred Kersley trained reigning Cox Plate winner is due to step out in Saturday’s Memsie Stakes in a clash with the brilliant first up winner Fields of Omagh.

Damien Oliver will be reunited with the Serheed gelding who resumed with a fair fifth in the recent listed Goodwood Sprint at Belmont Park in his home city.

Northerly will again race without the blinkers on Saturday. Connections are at this stage still unsure as to whether they will be left off again in the future.

Last season’s champion middle distance performer is again being aimed at the Group One Carlton Draught Cox Plate (2040m) at Moonee Valley in October.
