Race 1 - Leigh hutchinson maidnen plate - 1600 metres:

Shortly after the start "Praznik" was hampered when tightened for room between "Bartorq" and "Steavy Bay" which shifted out slightly. Near the 1200 metres "River Zed" hung out and inconvenienced "Man In A Rush". Near the 400 metres "Steavy Bay" which when weakening was hampered for room by "Man In A Rush" which shifted in slightly. Rounding the home turn "Choppity Boo" shifted in and brushed "Man In A Rush". Shortly after this "Choppity Boo" which was weakening became unbalanced when racing tight between "Man In A Rush" and "Bartorq". In the straight "My Bay Boy" and "Giulia Di Francia" laid in under pressure.

Race 2 DANIEL PARFITT MAIDEN PLATE - 1200 metres:

'Bold Show" and "Narissa" were slow to begin. Shortly after the start "Mothers" was hampered when tightened for room between "Kingston Spring" and "Fly The Sky" which was taken in by "Tee Ell Cee" which shifted in. G. Murphy, rider on "Elytra Bid" explained to stewards that he elected not to improve his position to the inside of "Gold Rhythm" near the 600 metres as in his opinion "Tee Ell Cee" the gelding he would be following would not be able to take him into the race. Murphy further added he decided to wait for a short distance and then improve to the outside of "Narissa". Near the 100 metres "Elytra Bid" shifted in and hampered "Narissa" which was weakening.

Race 3 - CLYNE CONSTRUCTIONS SUPER VOBIS 3 YO MAIDEN PLATE - 1200 metres:

Acting on a report from the starter regarding the unruly behaviour of "Ebony Road" whilst being loaded into the barriers stewards notified Mr. J Allen , trainer of the colt that a warning would be placed on "Ebony Road" today and prior to the colt starting again he must be in receipt of a barrier certificate. Shortly after the start "Call Me Louise" was hampered when tightened for room between "Centimetre Perfect" which was taken out by "Sailing Orders"and "Tempest Terror" and "Elite Park" which were taken in by "Zero Links" which shifted in. Shortly after this incident "Tempest Terror" had to be checked off the heels of "Centimetre Perfect" when taken in slightly by "Zero Links". Near the 800 metres "Our Miss Penny" which laid in away from "Yanga's Girl" made contact with "Sailing Orders" on a number of occasions resulting in both horses becoming unbalanced. Shortly after this "Centimetre Perfect" was hampered when tightened for room between "Fly In Style" and "Sailing Orders" which shifted in away from "Our Miss Penny". Near the 500 metres "Tempest Terror" brushed the running rail. Rounding the home turn "Tempest Terror" shifted in and brushed the running rail became unbalanced and then had to be checked. On straightening "Yanga's Girl"shifted out away from "Call Me Louise" and bumped "Rocky Port" resulting in the gelding becoming unbalanced. Shortly after this "Yanga's Girl" and "Rocky Port" were hampered when tightened for room by "Call Me Louise" (D. Mittiga) which shifted out. D. Mittiga was reprimanded and notified that he must be sufficiently clear of other runners when shifting ground in the future. Subsequent to the race the Club vet reported that "Fly In Style" had sustained a small wound to it's near hind .

Race 4 - MICK EVANS FILLIES & MARES CLASS 1 HANDICAP - 1200 metres:

During the race "Miss Libby" suffered a bleeding attack. D. Mittiga, rider of "Very Risque" was found guilty of a charge of having used his whip unnecessarily on a beaten horse. D. Mittiga was fined the sum of $500. In assessing the penalty stewards took into account that D Mittiga was recently fined for a similar offence.

Race 5 - MATT WALDER CLASS 3 HANDICAP -1200 metres:

On jumping away 'Ruby Lips" shifted out taking "Fine and Dapper" out on to "Elmo's Hero" which then shifted out abruptly and made contact with "Tack Hammer". Also on jumping away "Lunar Streak" shifted in on to "Straight By" which was then checked off the heels of "Tack Hammer" which shifted out. Near the 800 metres "Ruby Lips" which when over racing had to be eased off the heels of "Elmo's Hero". Subsequent to the race the club's vet reported that "Tack Hammer" had been galloped on it's near hind. "Al Zimer" had sustained a wound to the off fore and "Fine And Dapper" was lame in the near fore. T. O'Sullivan, trainer of "Fine And Dapper was notified that prior to the horse starting again he must be in receipt of a vet's certificate of fitness. An amended stable return was received for "Lunar Streak" showing Mrs J. M. Symons and A.L Benbow as the nominators of the mare.

Race 6 - WARRACK EAGLES FOOTBALL CLUB HANDICAP - 1600 metres:

"Mighty Eel" and "Mulwalla" were slow to begin. Near the 200 metres " Mighty Eel" was disappointed for a run between "Marron Cheval" and "Mulwalla" both of whom shifted ground.

Race 7 - TOOHEYS NEW CLASS 3 HANDICAP - 1600 metres:

"Gitalon" and "Ballyvourney" were slow to begin. Near the 1200 metres "Ballyvourney" was hampered when attempting to obtain a run on the inside of "Fergus My Boy" where there was barely sufficient room. During this incident "Fergus My Boy" was brushed on the hind-quarters and became unbalanced.

Race 8 - FRASER QUICK CLASS 1 HANDICAP - 2000 metres:

Near the 1600 metres "My Zena" hung out and hampered "Crombie". Near the 1200 metres "Kwaitpa" had to be restrained off the heels of "Cheval Marie". Shortly after this the saddle on "Cheval Marie" moved forward and then near the 800 metres N. Parker lost the use of her irons and this placed her at a considerable disadvantage for the remainder of the race.

ADJOURNED INQUIRIES: Stewards adjourned an inquiry into the reason M.Goring did not full-fill his riding engagements today.
