  5 Chinese Ripper C. Massey C Robertson Indisposed

Race 1 - OWEN BALDWIN MEMORIAL SUPER VOBIS THREE YEAR OLD MAIDEN PLATE - 1300 metres

"Prince Della" jumped away awkwardly. In the early and middle stages of the race "Ronaldinho" got it's head up when over-racing. Approaching the winning post "Sugar Foot Stomp" was disappointed for a run between "Benevole" and "Prince Della" which shifted in slightly. 

Race 2 - GIVE THAT DAD A NEW MAIDEN PLATE - 2000 metres

On arrival at the barrier "Blue Siesta" was examined by the club vet who ruled that the gelding was unfit to start. Acting on this steward's withdrew "Blue Siesta" at 12.54pm. Subsequent to the race stewards ruled that all monies wagered on "Blue Siesta" were to be refunded and that all successful bets wagered prior to the withdrawal of "Blue Siesta" were to be paid as follows:All successful bets on horses prior to time of withdrawal of "Blue Siesta" are subject to the following deductions in the dollar from the face value of the ticket.WIN BETS: 2 centsPLACE BETS: 2 cents WINNING CONCESSION BETS: 2 cents DOUBLE BETS: 2 cents * All monies bet after the Stewards declaration of withdrawal to be paid at face value of ticket.

Prior to straightening ""Samoan Taupou" hung out. During the running of the race "Running Ablaze" lost it's off hind plate. Prior to correct weight being declared D. Yendall, rider of "Let's Romance" second place getter viewed the photo finish image.

Subsequent to the race Mr O. Bant part-owner and trainer "Blue Siesta" was notified that prior to the gelding starting again he must be in receipt of a vet certificate of fitness. 

Race 3 - STAWELL HIGHWAY TRADERS MAIDEN PLATE (1) - 1100 metres: 1.29PM

On jumping away "Mrs Nasty" was hampered when tightened for room between "Mantoby" and "Arborloch" due to both those horses shifting. Near the 800 metres "Panaqua" brushed the running rail. Rounding the home turn "Bachelor's Symbol" was held up for a short distance.  

Race 4 - BORONIA PEAK VILLAS MAIDEN PLATE (2) - 1100 metres

"Mindover" was slow to begin. Shortly after the start "Jugah Tone" was taken in by "Rock Jackson" which shifted in and away from "Bundaloch" which shifted in slightly;. Shortly after this "Jugah Tone" shifted out abruptly and bumped "Rock Jackson" which became severely unbalanced. Passing the 1000 metres "Bunaloch" when hanging shifted in and tightened ""Jugah Tone" and "Ready Set Go" which were hampered. In the middle stages of the race "Jugah Tone" raced ungenerously. Over the last 100 metres "Rock Jackson" hung in under pressure and proved difficult to ride out. 

Race 5 - CHRIS 'N' DI'S BAKERY CLASS 1 HANDICAP - 1100 metres 

On jumping away "Rusty Penny" jumped awkwardly, shifted out and then had to be checked when tightened for room between ""Zephyr Prince" which shifted in and "Chinese Ripper" which was taken out by "Copper Idyll". Over the last 100 metres "Miss Tuppy" and "Copper Idyll" were held up when unable to obtain clear runs. C. Robertson, rider of "Chinese Ripper" explained to stewards that he felt that there was something amiss with the mare and for this reason he eased "Chinese Ripper" down in the straight. Subsequent to the race the club's vet reported that there was no apparent abnormality with "Chinese Ripper" other than the mare had spread it's near hind plate.  

Race 6 - ZAG SIGNS CLASS 4 HANDICAP - 1100 metres 

Prior to correct weight being declared C. Robertson rider of "Mit and Mot" third place - getter viewed the stewards patrol film before deciding to lodge an objection against "Fine & Dapper" being declared the winner on the grounds of alleged interference between the 400 metres and 200 metres. After taking evidence from the relevant parties and viewing the steward's films the objection was dismissed and correct weight was then declared. It was established that prior to straightening "Mit and Mot" was inconvenienced when taken out slightly by "Fine and Dapper" which was also taken out slightly by "All Lustre". Near the 200 metres "Grand Mansion" had to be checked when tightened for room between "Ruskin" which shifted in and was taken in further by "Zahmir" which also shifted in slightly and "Cilldargen" when hanging out shifted ground. Shortly after this incident "Grand Mansion" was again checked when "Cilldargen" shifted in. Mr D. Connors trainer of "Cilldargen" was notified that the gelding was suspended from racing for excessive hanging until such time that it trials to the stewards satisfaction. "Cilldargen" had been warned for hanging in its races on two other occasions. 

Race 7 - HARNEY'S STAWELL FREIGHTERS F & M CLASS 2 HANDICAP - 1300 metres

Shortly after the start "Princess Nuage" was hampered when tightened for room between "Jade Star" which shifted out and "Sparky Star" which was taken in slightly by "Mahaloha" which was also taken in by "No Charge'. N Wilson rider of "Claret Damsel" which performed below expectations explained to stewards that in his opinion the mare felt amiss in its action and for that reason he eased it down in the straight. Subsequent to the race the Club's vet reported that "Claret Damsel" was lame in the off hind. Mr K Chisholm part owner-trainer of the mare was notified that prior to racing again he must be in receipt of a vet certificate of fitness. G. Murphy, rider of "Princess Nuage" which performed poorly explained to the stewards that the mare never responded to his riding at any stage. Subsequent to the race the clubs vet reported no apparent abnormality with the mare.Also subsequent to the event the Club's vet reported that "Mahaloha" which was pulled up during the race was lame in the near hind. Mr R. Wilson, trainer of the mare was notified that prior to"Mahaloha" starting again he must be in receipt of a vet certificate of fitness. On weighing in Kate Walters, rider of "Indecorum" winner of the race weighed in a half a kilo under her declared weight. After calling for the bridle that was used on the horse K. Walters was re- weighed and weighed in at her declared weight and correct weight was then declared.  

Race 8 - DON KYATT SPARE PARTS CLASS 4 HANDICAP - 2000 metres: 4.30pm

Rounding the home turn "Glasspark Miss" clipped the heels of "Headache" when attempting to take a narrow run to the inside of that gelding. 

Race 9 - STAWELL AUTO ELECTRICS CLASS 2 HANDICAP - 2000 metres: 5.08pm

Near the 100 metres on the first occasion "Coff's Magic" was inconvenienced when tightened for room between "Harryallard's Lane" and "Orange Appeal" due to both horses shifting ground. Turning out of the home straight "Pawel" was checked when tightened for room by "Harryallards Lane" which was taken in by "Coff's Magic" which shifted in away from "Little Miss Mary". Near the 200 metres "Molly's Melody" was hampered when tightened for room by "Coff's Magic" which was taken out by "Ruby Jade" (L. Irwin) which shifted out to improve around "Stimulate" which also shifted slightly. L. Irwin was reprimanded and notified that stewards would expect her to straighten her mounts sooner when in similar circumstances.

Race 2: Random swab was taken from "Golden Great Wall" the winner.
Race 3: Routine swab was taken from the winner "Red's Toy".
Race 5: Routine swab was taken from the winner "Redding's Hope".
Race 6: Routine swab was taken from the winner " Fine and Dapper".
Race 7: Random swab was taken from "Charmly" second place-getter.
Race 9: Routine swab was taken from the winner "Icy Chances".

SUMMARY

FINES  Race 7 : A Coffey, trainer of "No Charge" was fined the sum of $30 for wrong colours.
