Near the 1300 metres "Much Likadon" had to be checked when tightened for room by "Speculative" (J. Patton), which shifted in abruptly away from "Hello Positano". J. Patton was reprimanded, and notified to exercise more care when shifting ground in future.

Race 2 - NEBOZUK CARPETS FILLIES AND MARES MAIDEN PLATE - 1200 metres:

Rounding the home turn and in the straight "Artful Deception" hung out.

Approaching the winning post "Molly Ellen (NZ)" shifted in across the heels of "Geelong Magestique", resulting in C. Symons, rider of the mare, being unable to ride his mount out to the end of the race.

Race 3 - NEW BTC MEMBERS MAIDEN PLATE - 2000 metres:

Just prior to the Starter releasing the field "King Filou" reared, and as a result lost ground. As the Stewards did not believe that its action had materially prejudiced the chances of "King Filou", the Stewards declared the gelding to be a runner.

Approaching the 600 metres "Rapia Miss" shifted out and inconvenienced "Tocar" and "Tertina".

Near the 200 metres "Southesk (NZ)" shifted in to avoid the heels of "Rapia Miss", and as a result brushed "Lady Meryl" in on to "Countercharge".

Race 4 - LILLINGSTON & MARSHALL INSURANCE BROKERS CLASS 1 HANDICAP - 1000 metres:

Prior to the running of this race Mr. Bill Mitchell, trainer of "Kenwood Allegro", lodged an amended stable return showing J. V. O'Neill, A. J. Maloney, H. Lang, P. Gately, T. Taylor, Ms K. Crawford, B. Aiken, P. Harpas and Ms T. Fullerton as the nominators of the gelding.

"Café Racer (NZ)" jumped away awkwardly, shifted out and brushed "Sindicato".

On jumping away "Kenwood Allegro" and "Rusty Penny" came together due to both horses shifting ground.

On the home turn "Café Racer (NZ)" was eased to avoid the heels of "Sindicato".

Rounding the home turn and in the early part of the straight "Kenwood Allegro" had difficulty in obtaining a clear run.

V. Duric, rider of "Sindicato", explained to the Stewards that his mount appeared to lose its action passing the 200 metres, and for this reason he eased his mount down over the concluding stages. A veterinary examination failed to reveal any abnormality.

Race 5 - TRACY THE PLACEMENT PEOPLE CLASS 6 HANDICAP - 1200 metres:

"Kruger King (NZ)" was slow to begin.

Passing the 1100 metres "Arabian Adventure (NZ)" had to be eased when tightened for room by "Melody Prince", which was taken in by "Arnside".

S. Baster, rider of "Westminster Hall" which had performed below expectations, stated that the gelding hung out throughout the race, and did not feel right in its action. A veterinary examination failed to reveal any abnormality.

On return to scale it was noted that "Westminster Hall' had lost its off hind plate.

Race 8 - WORKSAFE VICTORIA CLASS 1 HANDICAP - 1600 metres:

Prior to correct weight B. Prebble, rider of "Question Time (NZ)", second placegetter, viewed the Stewards' video and decided not to lodge an objection.

"Question Time" was slow to begin.

After passing the 200 metres "Question Time (NZ)" and "Compendium" raced tight for some distance due to both horses shifting ground slightly.

SWAB SAMPLES were taken from the winners of the following races: "Geelong Magestique" - Race 2; "Mr. Gorsky (NZ)" - Race 4: "Riva Storm" - Race 6, and "Makybe Diva (GB)" - Race 7.
