RACE 1: LOLA WBSTER CLASS 2 H'CAP - 1000m

SECRET OBSESSION and SAHARA ZOFF were both slow to begin.

ARMOUR VIEW was held up for clear running making the home turn.

RACE 2: CGU INSURANCE/SOUTHCORP WINES MAIDEN H'CAP - 1200m

MAJESTIC MOTION which was slow to begin, veered out shortly after the start and continued to race greenly for the remainder of the event. T Higgins the trainer of MAJESTIC MOTION was advised that a warning would be placed on the gelding.

GIDI GADA was very slow to begin.

WILD COUNTY jumped in at the start hampering NEW DESTINY causing both horses to be slowly into stride.

Leaving the 650m, WILD COUNTY improved to the inside of BLONDE DARLING, which eased and shifted in causing WILD COUNTY to be tightened for room and lose ground. SLY TYCOON, which was following was forced to check to avoid heels.

RACE 3: SOUTH WEST FORD & NISSAN CLASS 6 H'CAP - 1200m

Apprentice J Dagan rider of ZAC'S BACK was questioned regarding the tactics adopted on that gelding during the early and middle stages of the event. After taking evidence from both J Dagan and Trainer J Everitt, explanations were noted and no further action was taken.

RACE 4: CUNNAMULLA XXX CUP OPEN H'CAP - 1400m

CHINA CONSUL was slow to begin.

ROTELLA was momentarily held up making the home turn.

RACE 5: CHR EMPLOYMENT SERVICES CLASS 4 H'CAP - 1400m

GOLD MINER'S DREAM and SKINNER'S REVENGE were both slow to begin.

RACE 1: CLASS 1 HANDICAP - 1000 METRES

GOLDEN GOOSE was a fraction slow to get into stride.

RACE 2: CLASS 6 PLATE - 1000 METRES

CERRUTI, KWILA'S IMAGE and OUR ZAC were withdrawn after final acceptance time as no suitbable riders were available.

Approaching the 700 metres STRANGER had to be checked and lost ground when RORT (Apprentice L. Attard) hung out. A short distance later RORT continued to hang out badly and shifted wider, hampering the forward movement of REVANCHO for a short distance. Apprentice Attard was given the benefit of the doubt as to whether he could have made a greater effort to prevent his mount from continuing to hang out. Nevertheless he was reprimanded under the provisions of AR.137(a). In assessing penalty stewards took into account some mitigating circumstances in both incidents.

RACE 3: CLASS 2 HANDICAP - 1200 METRES

ASPEN RACER was withdrawn after final acceptance time for an acceptable reason.

There were no racing incidents.

RACE 4: CLASS 4 HANDICAP - 1450 METRES

STARK was a late withdrawal, for an acceptable reason.

There were no racing incidents.

RACE 5: WEIGHT-FOR-AGE - 1450 METRES

UNDERTONE was a late withdrawal, for an acceptable reason.

ENGLAND was a little slow to get into stride.

The start was delayed when CASTELOZOS proved difficulty to load. Trainer G Purdy, was advised that a warning was being placed on the gelding.

EARLWOOD MANOR was steadied over the concluding stages when crowded for room by CELESTIAL GLORY, which shifted out under pressure.

RACE 3: BILL MOSS CLASS 1 H'CAP - 900M

SHE'S A DANCER raced green throughout the race.

Jockey S Simon reported that ENCHANTED SPIRIT hung in the entire of race.

F Edwards, the rider of LAWREY'S BELLOTTO, accidentally dropped his whip at the 400m.

RACY DANCER was held up for clear running at the 400m.

THE APACHE KID blundered on jumping away, dislodging J. Taylor. J. Taylor was transported to hospital for precautionary x-rays and stood down from his remaining engagements. The following riding substitutions were approved: Race 3. SECRET HEART - Z. Purton; Race 5. BRAVE COURT - M. Pelling; Race 67. LINCOLN ROAD - K. Pope; Race 7. WISHART - A. Erhart.

Approaching the 1400m., SILVER PAGE shifted in slightly, inconveniencing DE CANNY, which in turn shifted in, tightening GALACTIC GIRL in on to SCHRUB 'N' CHIPS, which made contact with the hind quarters of RED GERARD.

ZAMCAY pulled hard in the early stages.

Close to the finish line, GALACTIC GIRL was slightly inconvenienced by the riderless THE APACHE KID.

RACE 2: CASTLEMAINE PERKINS QTIS STAKES H'CAP - 1110M.

BRASH was slow to begin.

Making the first turn, after being briefly tightened for room, PLATINIUM CLASS shifted out abruptly, inconveniencing PICABLU and resulting in PLATINIUM CLASS losing considerable ground.

Near the 800m., when being restrained off the heels of RORY'S NORTH, SHOW BIZ KID shifted in and made contact with SIT HERE DEAR.

After leaving the 800m., PLATINIUM CLASS then shifted in, resulting in MONACO MISS having to be steadied.

GALWAY STAR hung out making the home turn.

A. Erhart reported that the bit pulled through the mount of GALWAY STAR during the event.

Trainer I. Kent was advised that BRASH would be required to barrier trial satisfactorily before starting again due to its race day manners and poor performance.

RACE 3: ORLANDO WYNDHAM H'CAP - 2100M.

MAST was very slow to begin.

GO SANDY was also slowly away.

PACIFIC CONNECTION jumped awkwardly, taking SECRET HEART out on to RAFFUTE.

When questioned, apprentice R. Hurley stated that when steadying off the heels of ARCHIDAMIA passing the winning post on the first occasion, DANE NEWS commenced to pull hard and continued to do so for the remainder of the event.

G. Duffy reported that VANISHING POWDER pulled hard in the early stages, however was beaten near the 600m., and in his opinion was very disappointing. A veterinary examination of VANISHING POWDER failed to reveal any abnormality.

C. Reith, rider of TYALGUM POP, was fined $100 for returning to scale in excess of half a kilogram overweight.

A swab sample was taken from DANE NEWS.

RACE 4: PRINT SERVICES QUEENSLAND H'CAP - 1200M.

BETULA, which was unable to be loaded, was withdrawn by order of the stewards at 2.14 p.m.. On the announcement of correct weight, all monies invested on BETULA were ordered to be refunded, with deductions of 31 cents in the dollar on the face value of win bets, 21 cents in the dollar on the face value of place bets, applicable to successful wagers placed prior to the withdrawal time. Trainer B. Guy was advised that BETULA would be required to pass a further barrier test prior to its next race start.

Near the 300m., CENTENNIAL DANDY was inclined to hang in under pressure and had to be steadied off the heels of SHOW STAR, and over the concluding stages was forced wider on the track by SHOW STAR.

RACE 5: PEDIGREE GUIDE DOG H'CAP - 1200M.

Permission was granted for K. Yoshida to replaced Z. Purton on NIGHT TO REMEMBER.

BRAVE COURT, STRIKE FORCE and POTESTAS were slow to begin.

NIGHT TO REMEMBER raced wide in the middle stages.

Near the 1000m., MAZZONE got its head up when being steadied off the heels of NIGHT TO REMEMBER. MAZZONE then continued to race ungenerously for some distance.

BRAVE COURT was inclined to lay in under pressure in the straight.

STRIKE FORCE was impeded for a run over the concluding stages.

When questioned in relation to the disappointing performance of WEAISHE, G. Duffy stated that despite being ridden hard in the early stages, WEAISHE was unable to muster the necessary speed. He added that after leaving the 500m., he was forced to place the horse under the whip, however it only responded fairly from that point. Trainer M. Nolan was unable to offer any excuses for the performance, adding that WEAISHE had worked well leading into today's event. A veterinary examination of WEAISHE failed to reveal any abnormality, and a swab sample was taken.

A veterinary examination of YUKMARR revealed the gelding to have strained its off fore suspensory ligament.

RACE 6: NUNDAH MITSUBISHI H'CAP - 1350M.

WINNING FRIENDS was very slow to begin. Trainer B. McLachlan was advised that a warning was being placed on the mare regarding its barrier manners.

GUIDANCE was slow to begin.

Approaching the home turn, LEVANTE was inclined to lay in under pressure.

AULD HAT shifted out abruptly on the home turn, forcing KARATE wider on the track. C. Spry, rider of AULD HAT, was advised to exercise more care when shifting ground.

A veterinary examination of KARATE following the event failed to reveal any abnormality.

RACE 7: TRENDWEST GUIDE DOGS H'AP - 1350M.

KULNURA blundered on jumping away.

PORT CALL was very slow to begin. Trainer K. Doughty was advised that a warning was being placed on PORT CALL in relation to its barrier manners.

OURS shifted in at the start, inconveniencing NED'S REVENGE.

Near the 1200m., GRAMPIANS had to be steadied to avoid the heels of WINSTED, which shifted in momentarily.

PORT CALL raced ungenerously in the early stages and approaching the 800m., shifted out and made contact with WISHART.

Both BANFF CONNECTION and OURS were forced to race wide in the middle stages.

Approaching the 600m., when being restrained off the heels of AFLAC, PORT CALL shifted out abruptly, taking HUGE YEAR wider on the track.

RACE 8: BDO KENDALLS H'CAP - 1010M.

MINT REGENT was slow to begin.

DEFEND raced wide in the middle stages.

VIVID MISS had difficulty obtaining clear running from the 100m..

When questioned in relation to the improved performance of MISS MARTINDALE, trainer L. Tinsley stated that he was of the opinion MISS MARTINDALE was better suited when able to lead, and that he had instructed A. Spiteri to persist in his efforts to obtain the lead, as in the past when allowed to settle behind the pace, MISS MARTINDALE had failed to run on over the concluding stages.

Weights were raised 2kd to obtain the minimum weight requirement at Ewan.

BRITTANY MAY shifted outwards at the 300 metres point bumping MAL DRESSEUR causing that horse some inconvenience. J. Long, the rider of BRITTANY MAY, was reprimanded for shifting ground when not sufficiently clear.

BRITTANY MAY also shifted out in the straight. Jockey J. Long corrected the horse. Just prior to the line the horse shifted again. No other rider or horse were inconvenienced.

RACE 3: PRICE WATERHOUSE COPPERS & AAA+ FINANCIAL SOLUTIONS CLASS 4

Weights were raised ½kg to obtain the minimum weight requirement at Ewan.

PROUD CANADIAN was given a 2kg penalty for winning on 27.09.02.

DARK CRUSADER jumped with its head in the air missing the start by approximately 1 length.

THOMASETTE was slow into stride as the start was affected.

M. Young the rider of KATARARE reported to stewards that the horse had a tendency to hang out for the first 150 metres of the race.

RACE 4: RUPERTSWOOD ESTATE & HOBSON CONSTRUCTIONS PTY LTED EWAN MEMORIAL SHIELD OPEN

FAITHFUL FELLA jumped with the field however the horse was slow to pick up the pace and dropped back.

KNIGHT TIME had a tendency to hang in at the 500 metre point.

CHAMBA raced wide for the entire journey of the race.

RACE 5: WARATAH EWAN CUP CLASS 6

RATZINGER was fractious in the barrier prior to the start being affected.

Stewards questioned jockeys J. Long, AMPEZZO, M. Seagren, JACOB'S BOY, L. Nelson, LIGHT HALO, and M. Cullen, ABEERAH in relation to an incident at approximately the 1400 metre point where AMPEZZO was tightened for room and was checked. After hearing evidence from the riders concerned and from stewards observations no blame could be placed on any particular jockey. However M. Cullen on the outside was given the benefit of a very grave doubt. Stewards reiterated the requirements for allowing sufficient room especially on the tight corners of the track. RATZINGER also suffered inconvenience as a result of the incident.

AMPEZZO compounded and finished a distant last.

RACE 6: SUNCORP METWAY CLASS 2

JEFF SAID, THOMASETTE and MAL DRESSEUR were inspected by the veterinarian prior to the race. All horses were passed fit to start.

BELLESHANI NZ started to lose ground at the 600 metres point and dropped back through the field causing some inconvenience as it dropped back.

RACE 1: MAIDEN H'CAP - 1200 METRES (11 STARTERS)
Cathy Johnston was the replacement rider for HIGH WESTERN when the declared rider Apprentice H Watanabe was indisposed.
DASHING RED was reluctant to enter the barriers and delayed the start. Trainer Alan O'Sullivan was advised that the horse is now barred from racing until such times as the horse can successfully pass an official barrier trial.
As the start was effected ASSENTING (M Lehmann) and KINGDOM ROCK (M Unwin) were both slow into stride.
It was reported upon returning back to scale by Jockey Mark Lehmann that the inside gate of his barrier had sprung back and struck his horse.
At the jump HIGH WESTERN (C Johnston) and DASHING RED (App D Johnston) both came together.
SHAZLEE (App N Nelson) raced wide at the 1000 metre turn.
At approximately the 600 metre mark HUMBLY OURS (M Barnham) layed in momentarily and hampered the running of MIGHTY WALTZ (David Rewald).

RACE 2: CLASS 1 H'CAP - 1200 METRES (8 STARTERS)
App B Dieckmann was the replacement rider for RUSTY REGAL as the declared rider App H Watanabe was indisposed.
No incidents in running.

RACE 3: CLASS 5 H'CAP - 1200 METRES
A protest was lodged by Jockey J Marks the rider of fourth place getter ALL JAKE. The protest which alleged interference over the final 100 metres was lodged against the third place getter GOLD COUNTY (M Lehmann). After hearing the evidence from the riders and the connections of both horses and on viewing the video footage, the Stewards dismissed the protest and declared correct weight on the Judges placings.
GOLD COUNTY was inclined to lay in from the home turn to the finish post resulting in Jockey Lehmann having to stop riding and straighten his mount.

RACE 4: OPEN H'CAP - 1075 METRES (9 STARTERS)
HE'S A KWILA was a late scratching at 2.40pm by order of the Stewards when the horse failed to arrive on course.
LIGHTLY SHE GOES (Darren Rewald) was slow into stride as the start was effected.
ZUP (App D Johnston) raced wide at approximately the 800 metre mark.

Over the concluding stages apprentice D. Gay was cautioned when his mount rolled in hampering LITTLE MATE and LOVE'S RIDING.

ADAM'S CURSE was inclined to hang in over the concluding stages.

RACE 2: CRAFTSMAN HOMES CLASS 1 HCP 1200M.

CUDDLING reluctant to load causing a minor delay, warning.

PELAGIC LIMIT jumped awkwardly outward.

SHE'S A CHARM jumped on terms then slow into stride.

Over the concluding stages of the race SOLEMNITY shifted out on at least two occasions making contact with ELEGANT CHOICE.

RACE 3: FITTON HOPEFUL QTIS 2YO OPEN PLATE 1000M.

Stewards heard a dual protest 3rd against 1st being SWEET SCHOLAR (Z. Purton) 3rd against 1st CAMBOOYA (J. Sharp) and also 2nd against 1st being GET CARTER (S. Katsidis) 2nd against 1st CAMBOOYA (J. Sharp). After hearing evidence from all parties, viewing the film and stewards observations the protest 3rd against 1st was dismissed as the degree of interference compared to the margin at the finish did not warrant the placing's to be amended. The protest 2nd against 1st was upheld due to the degree of interference compared to the margin at the finish did warrant the placing's to be amended to read 1st GET CARTER 2nd CAMBOOYA 3rd SWEET SCHOLAR. At a subsequent enquiry it was found that CAMBOOYA had shifted out abruptly when struck with the whip coming into contact with SWEET SCHOLAR which in turn shifted out inconveniencing GET CARTER. Due to the contributing factors in that the greenness of CAMBOOYA whilst having his first race start had caused the interference. Stewards took no further action.

SPECIAL LAD jumped out coming into contact with BABE OF THE YEAR, which also jumped awkwardly and continued to race green for a short distance.

COCKTAIL SHAKER jumped awkwardly and slow into stride.

Approaching 500m GET CARTER, whilst racing greenly, shifted out hampering STAR TRIPPER, which also shifted out hampering DISTINCT RHYTHM.

Stewards questioned apprentice Z. Purton regarding his dual engagement (SUSURRO/REMI). After hearing evidence from all parties apprentice Z. Purton was declared the rider of REMI and subsequently fined $100. A. Parramore replaced apprentice Z. Purton on SUSURRO.

FLING slow away.

LA SAYSALEE jumped outward making contact with REMI.

REMI was held up for a run at approx 400m and rolled in causing FLING to ease then shifted out and had to be checked across the heels of PRINCESS GEORGIA.

DASHING HERB slow into stride.

Rounding home turn DASHIN GHERB whilst hanging inwards had to be checked off the heels of STELLA SPECTRA resulting in DASHIN GHERB getting its head up in the air.

LEE SHORE was held up for clear running rounding the home turn through to the 100m.

Approaching the 200m jockey M. Gray (DASHING HERB) was reprimanded when his mount shifted out abruptly inconveniencing THIS SHOOD CLICK which inturn hampered MILLY'S HAT.

RACE 8: FITTON RURAL INSURANCE F&M MAIDEN HCP 1100M.

MIGHTY REWARD jumped awkwardly and was slow to stride.

HEY LASS jumped awkwardly causing the saddle to shift backward giving apprentice C. Browne a difficult ride throughout.

Whilst racing ungenerously HEY LASS had to be checked of the heels of HOT CHILLI FILLY at the 600m which resulted in MIGHTY REWARD clipping the heels of HEY LASS blundering and loosing ground.

Approaching the 800m apprentice S. Aizawa (PEASEBLOSSOM) was reprimanded when his mount shifted inwards taking PRINCESS FIONA in onto CHARMING EYES, which had to be eased. They continued inwards causing CHIEFTESS to be eased.

Race 1 XXXX Class 5 Hcp 1050m.

Prior to the start of this race the connections of BROWN EAGLE advised stewards that Jockey R.Pujolas would endeavour to ride the mare off the speed and have it settle as it had raced too fresh last start after being freshened up prior to that event. A public announcement was made to that effect.

Near the 800m BROWN EAGLE had to be steadied off the heels of CHLOELLA, which had shifted in.

When questioned over the performance of PUNCHINELLA Jockey W Binder stated that when pace quickened passing the 600m that with the big weight the mare floundered in the shifty going on the fence and lost ground. He also stated that PUNCHINELLA failed to run on. He put this down to the fact the mare was racing well out of its class and the weight it carried. His comments were noted.

Race 2 Boomerang Hotel Maiden Hcp 1250m.

NISTELROY was slow away.

NOODYTOBOO reared as the gates opened and lost considerable ground.

Near the 800m NISTELROY, which was racing ungenerously, had to be checked off the heels of GLENVALE GIRL. Shortly after when the pace slackened NISTELROY shifted in and NOODYTOBOO, which was following, had to be steadied.

Race 3 Bundaberg Rum Open Hcp 1250m.

D Cash replaced App L Abbott as the rider of IRISH WINGS when Apprentice Abbott failed to arrive on course.

Jockey R Mules was reprimanded for permitting his mount PISTOL STAR to shift in near the 1100m when not sufficiently clear of MINI ME and IRISH WINGS resulting in both those horse being tightened for room and being buffeted for some distance between PISTOL STAR and TELKALA which was racing to the inside.

Near the 200m MINI ME shifted out and hampered IRISH WINGS.

PISTOL STAR suffered a bleeding attack during the running of this event. Due to the severity of the haemorrhage Jockey R Mules retired PISTOL STAR from the event near the 400m.

An inquiry was adjourned into the reasons why PISTOL STAR was removed from the racecourse prior to the gelding being swabbed.

Race 4 Charlie Danastas Memorial Class 3 Hcp 1250m.

MUSLIN was slow away.

COOL LOU was trapped wide throughout.

Race 5 Carlisle Motors Class 1 Hcp 1500m.

ONCIRAMA and CHARNWOOD PRINCE were slow away.

Near the 400m CHARNWOOD PRINCE had to be checked when disappointed for a run between HIGH HOPE and OZ LANDING.

All winners were sent to be swabbed.

GENERAL:

Stewards today concluded an inquiry into the reasons for SHANKADI being transported to the Gold Coast Turf Club on Saturday 21 September, 2002 by unregistered persons. Trainer Ms L. MacPherson was found guilty under Local Rule 43 in that she allowed unlicensed persons Mr David Glen Pierce and Mr John Brazier to have custody of the racehorse SHANKADI. Ms MacPherson was fined the sum of $300.00. Both Mr J Brazier and Mr D G Pierce pleaded guilty under AR175(a) to an improper action that being whilst knowingly unregistered had assumed custody of the horse SHANKADI and handled, transported and presented the said horse to the Gold Coast meeting on Saturday 21 September, 2002. Mr J Brazier was fined the sum of $100.00. Mr D G Pierce was fined the sum of $300.00.

RACE 1: LOOK ENTERPRISES H'CAP - 1300 M.

As J. GRAHAM was indisposed Stewards permitted R. MORRIS to be substituted as the rider of FRAME WORK.

The start was delayed when COUNTESS MAXINE and HIGHLY DELIGHTED proved difficult to load. Trainer H. Cox was advised that COUNTESS MAXINE must obtain a barrier certificate prior to its next race start. Trainer L. Dennett was advised that HIGHLY DELIGHTED must obtain a barrier certificate prior to its next race start. Trainer L. Dennett was also advised that a warning would be placed on the mare with respect to its racing manners.

EAGLE SCOUT jumped out at the start hampering KSAR MAGIC.

Rounding the home turn SEAWAY LAD shifted out to improve and made contact with FRAME WORK.

Near the 250 metres HIGHLY DELIGHTED shifted out abruptly after being struck with the whip causing FRAME WORK to be steadied to avoid the heels of HIGHLY DELIGHTED.

A. KENNEDY the rider of HIGHLY DELIGHTED pleaded guilty under AR137(c) in that he made a celebratory gesture prior to the winning post. A. KENNEDY was fined the sum of $200.00.

Correct weight was delayed when the R. MORRIS the rider of the second placegetter FRAME WORK requested to view the Stewards' film.

RACE 2: STANDFORD PROPERTIES H'CAP - 1800 M.

The start of this race was delayed when BIDDADABA failed to be loaded. The gelding was subsequently a late withdrawal at 1.45 p.m. by order of Stewards acting on advice from the Starter. Prior to the announcement of correct weight all monies invested on BIDDADDABA were ordered to be refunded with deductions of 9 cents in the dollar for a win and 10 cents for a place on the face value of the ticket. Trainer R. Heathcote's representative Mr B. Heal was advised that a warning would be placed on the gelding.

MISS ENTREVEAUX was slow to begin.

THE NAME'S BOND raced wide in the early and middle stages.

MISS ENTREVEAUX raced ungenerously throughout.

Near the 250 metres KAZAKH BEAU shifted out to improve hampering SHARSHE.

RACE 3: NERANG RSL & MEMORIAL CLUB H'CAP - 1400 M.

DANTIBES' INFERNO was slow away.

MR. MORIARTI jumped in at the start and made contact with LIMIT NO LOOK.

A short distance later PADDY'S PROMISE shifted out abruptly and made contact with LIMIT NO LOOK. A postrace Veterinary examination of LIMIT NO LOOK which finished a distant last failed to reveal any abnormality. Trainer P. Moody's representative Ms D. Foster was advised that the gelding would have to trial to the satisfaction of the Stewards and obtain a Veterinary Certificate prior to its next race start.

After passing the 600 metres AGEAN PRINCESS had to be checked to avoid the heels of PADDY'S PROMISE which was taken in by MR. MORIARTI which was inclined to lay in. MR. MORIARTI continued to lay in for the remainder of the race.

RACE 4: JOHN FISH DEVELOPMENTS H'CAP - 2200 M.

NO RACING INCIDENTS.

RACE 5: BARR'S FIELD ESTATE H'CAP - 900 M.

As R. THOMAS was to be overweight Stewards permitted C. SMALL to be substituted as the rider of SQUIRTIE BOY. R. THOMAS was reprimanded.

Stewards considered an objection lodged by S. SHIELD the rider of STARATAN which finished third against APP. B. ALBUINO (BLITZ) being declared the second placegetter on the grounds of alleged interference over the final 250 metres. It was established that near the 250 metres when attempting a run where there was doubtful room to the inside of BLITZ. S. SHIELD was accidentally struck across the head by the whip of APP. B. ALBUINO on several occasions. Stewards were of the opinion that S. SHIELD had failed to obtain that run and therefore dismissed the objection and declared correct weight on the Judge's placings.

ISERE was hampered on jumping away between PRIDE OF WESTON and NOBLE JACKPOT both of which shifted ground.

Approaching the 600 metres NOBLE JACKPOT which was inclined to lay in and away from SQUIRTIE BOY shifted in and made contact with PRIDE OF WESTON. A short distance later NOBLE JACKPOT shifted out across the heels of SQUIRTIE BOY and had to be checked.

RACE 6: H HARVEY SMASH REPAIRS H'CAP - 1200 M.

A postrace Veterinary examination of GASOLINE which tailed off revealed the gelding to be lame in the off fore leg. Trainer G. Ryan was advised that he must obtain a Veterinary Certificate for GASOLINE prior to its next race start.

RACE 7: PRIMELINE PROPERTIES H'CAP - 1200 M.

RUBY LACE was slow to begin.

EXTREME RED raced wide throughout.

Near the 150 metres VON GALA had to alter course off the heels of GENERAL JUGAH.

A Veterinary examination of VON GALA after the race revealed the gelding to be lame in the off fore leg. Trainer D. Duryea's representative Ms D. Duryea was advised that a Veterinary Certificate would be required for the gelding prior to its next race start.

A Veterinary examination of EARLWAY after the race revealed the gelding to be lame in the off hind leg. Trainer A. Bailey will be advised that a Veterinary Certificate will be required prior to the gelding's next race start.

RACE 8: MAGIC MILLIONS HORSES IN TRAINING SALE H'CAP - 1400 M.

BEAVER LAKE and CAPE SCHANCK were crowded for room at the start when tightened between KID DE LAGO and HI DAD both of which shifted ground.

SMALL PROMISE was slow away.

HI DAD raced wide throughout.

Near the 700 metres ARDOSH had to be steadied off the heels of ALFRISTON. A short distance later ALFRISTON shifted out making contact with ALFRED.

TARA'S SONG and THAT'S CANNY were held up rounding the home turn behind the tiring COSTELLO.

Soon after straightening KEILOR shifted out hampering RUN A MUK.

Near the 200 metres THAT'S CANNY had to be steadied off the heels of SMALL PROMISE which shifted in.

Stewards questioned Trainer B. Guy's stableforeman Mr A Briffa in relation to the seemingly improved performance of ALFRISTON at today's event. Mr Briffa stated that at its last start at Eagle Farm on 11 September, 2002 that the entire had to work hard from the outside barrier and its rider M. RODD felt that something may have been amiss with the horse on that occasion. He further added that the horse had worked moderately leading in to today's event. His explanation was noted.

A postrace Veterinary examination of COSTELLO revealed that the horse was suffering from respiratory distress. Trainer G. Newham was advised that the results of a full Veterinary clearance including an endoscopic examination would be required prior to the gelding's next race start.

RACE 2: JOHN BARR TYRES & MVO CONTRACTORS CLASS 1 HANDICAP

M. Seagren, the nominated rider of CIRCUM PACIFIC was replaced by J. Cairns due to M. Seagren being overweight.

REHAB was slow out as the start was affected.

RACE 3: McDONALD'S TOWNSVILLE CLASS 3

Jockey J. Cairns, the rider of CLYNSCO was unseated in the barrier when the horse reared. No injuries were sustained to either the horse or the rider.

BELLESHANI NZ was checked and lost ground at approximately the 500 metre point when COWBOY BILL shifted in. At a subsequent inquiry into the incident, jockey E. Kowald, the rider of COWBOY BILL, stated that the horse hit a soft patch in the track and shifted in sharply resulting in BELLESHANI NZ being checked. Jockey E. Kowald was reprimanded for allowing his mount to shift in when not sufficiently clear of BELLESHANI NZ.

RACE 4: WESFARMERS LANDMARK EWAN LADIES BRACELET OPEN (1)

No racing incidents.

RACE 5: WESFARMERS LANDMARK EWAN LADIES BANGLE OPEN (2)

M. Seagren the nominated rider of CHAMBA was replaced by J. Lewis due to M. Seagren being unable to make the declared weight.

FOOTMAN shifted out in the home front straight causing slight inconvenience to MISTER MO.

RACE 6: PAUL CARNEY MOTORS EWAN GOUGERS CLASS 5

M. Seagren the nominated rider of DELTA GLOW was replaced by J. Cairns due to M. Seagren being unable to make the declared weight.

OUR POIKA was slow into stride as the start was affected.

GENERAL
Swab samples were taken from all winners.

Stewards questioned Jockey M. Seagren as to why she accepted three rides when it was found she could not ride the declared weight. Jockey Seagren could offer no reasonable explanation as to why. Subsequently stewards charged Jockey Seagren under Australian Racing Rule 120(b) for accepting three rides whereupon it was found she could not fulfil. Jockey Seagren was found guilty of the charge. In assessing penalty stewards took into account that M. Seagren was just returning from a suspension for a similar offence. Jockey Seagren was suspended for one month.

All jockeys that competed at the meeting were breathalysed prior to the first race and were passed clear to ride.
