RACE 1: 'BOOK NOW FOR MELBOURNE CUP' H'CAP - 1200 M.

REAL IMPRESSIVE was declared a late scratching at 7.55 a.m. due to a clerical error.

PAMELA which reared over in the enclosure was examined by the Club's Veterinary Officer and was declared a late scratching at 12.45 p.m. No deductions were applicable.

CHOCOLATE TART and UPPITY were slow to begin.

Trainer G. Sheehan was reprimanded for presenting PAMELA to race in a non-approved bit.

RACE 2: ALLKILL PEST CONTROL H'CAP - 1400 M.

TOWN FLIRT was slow to begin.

MILATTA was forced to race wide throughout.

Soon after entering the straight LADY ON A MISSION shifted in and made contact with KIMBERLEY COOL.

MANICURED was inclined to lay in under pressure over the concluding stages.

TOWN FLIRT was examined by the Club's Veterinary Officer after the running of this race and was found to be shin sore in the near fore leg and had sustained a laceration to the near hind pastern.

RACE 3: MIKE MCCABE REAL ESTATE H'CAP - 1400 M.

HERO WORSHIP, LION HUNT and PODINSKI were all hampered on jumping away between WESTLYN ROAD and RIDE THE SEAS, both of which shifted ground.

Near the 900 metres WESTLYN ROAD had to be checked off the heels of NIX 'N' KNOTS.

Approaching the first turn BLAZING SHARI hung out taking NIX 'N' KNOTS wider on the track.

After passing the 200 metres WESTLYN ROAD had to be steadied to avoid the heels of HERO WORSHIP which was inclined to lay in. HERO WORSHIP continued to lay in for the remainder of the event.

RACE 4: PROPERTY.COM.AU H'CAP - 1200M.

CHARVILLA was declared a late scratching at 8.15 a.m. acting on Veterinary advice.

KINBEACHIE jumped away awkwardly.

MOBY was slow to begin.

RACE 5: GOLD SERVICE PORTFOLIO (GOLD COAST) H'CAP - 1200 M.

FANTESSA was declared a late scratching at 2.38 p.m. acting on Veterinary advice.

Near the 800 metres MILLCAY lost ground when reluctant to race in restricted room to the inside of CAPRILL.

The track was upgraded to DEAD after running of this event.

RACE 6: KINGSMORE RESIDENTIAL ESTATE H'CAP - 900 M.

STONECRUSHER was slow to begin.

SKIMBLESHANKS jumped away awkwardly.

Approaching the 600 metres ICY SNIP had to be steadied off the heels of ANTARES which shifted out slightly.

RACE 7: GOLD SERVICE PORTFOLIO (INTERNATIONAL) H'CAP - 1200 M.

SHANKADI was declared a late scratching at 4.38 p.m. by order of Stewards acting under the powers of AR50. Prior to the announcement of correct weight all monies invested on SHANKADI were ordered to be refunded with deductions of 12 cents in the dollar for a win and 11 cents for a place on the face value of the ticket. After taking evidence from licensed trainer Mr T. Fay, registered stablehand Mr G Laming, Mr G Pierce and Mr J Brazier the inquiry was adjourned to a time and date to be fixed to enable trainer of SHANKADI Ms L MacPherson to be present.

SIPPY DOWNS was slow to begin.

Near the 950 metres S. Shield the rider of GRACE'S ROSES was reprimanded for allowing his mount to shift in when insufficiently clear of RING THAT BELL resulting in RING THAT BELL having to be checked.

Near the 250 metre mark LADY BLASWICK which was tiring had to be steadied to avoid the heels of JAYWALKER which shifted in.

Near the 100 metres ST. COLUMBANS shifted out and brushed PATRICIA CATHERINE.

RACE 8: MIKE MCCABE REAL ESTATE H'CAP - 1400 M.

NATTI was a late scratching at 7.55 a.m. due to a clerical error.

MAGIC WAYS and RAUTAI'S WARRIOR bumped on jumping away.

App. S. McLean the rider of IN COBARGO was fined the sum of $100.00 for returning to scale in excess of ½ kilo overweight.

GENERAL:
Stewards concluded an adjourned inquiry from Saturday 14th September 2002 involving jockey John Stephens who rode PROUD GLANCE and Apprentice Hidezaku Watanabe who rode ATHENE'S STAR. The inquiry was into the tactics adopted by both riders whilst rounding the hometurn. After considering the evidence before them, Stewards issued a caution to Jockey John Stephens and took no further action.

Stewards today opened an inquiry into the conduct of Mr Fred Smith in the Stewards Room of the Rockhampton Jockey Club on Saturday 14th September 2002. After taking evidence Mr Smith pleaded guilty to a charge under AR175(j) pertaining to improper conduct and he was subsequently fined the sum of $300.

RACING

RACE 1: CLASS 1 H'CAP - 1400 METRES (12 STARTERS)

The race time which appeared in the official programme was incorrect and was amended to 1.10pm.
FOXAMBER (B Appo) jumped away awkwardly as the start was effected.
As the gates opened REPAYEE (G Evans) jumped inwards and cannoned into CHARNWOOD PRINCE (D Lloyd) who in turn was taken inwards making heavy contact with IMPOSING MATTHIAS (N Evans) who in turn went inwards and made contact with IL PRESIDENTE (J Stephens). REPAYEE (G Evans) raced very ungenerously in the early to middle stages of the event. Stewards advised trainer S Lindley that REPAYEE was now barred until such times as the horse successfully completes a barrier trial.
At approximately the 950 metre mark GUINN (S Watkin) improved onto the heels of BRAVEBAUM (C Beets) and had to be steadied outwards which resulted in FOXAMBER (B Appo) being hampered which further resulted in IRAN BELLE (W Binder) being taken wider onto the track.
At approximately the 600 metre mark IL PRESIDENTE (J Stephens) was disappointed for a clear run to the inside of BIG ARTIE (D Whitmore).

RACE 2: CLASS 2 H'CAP - 1000 METRES (11 STARTERS)

Trainer M Crouch was fined the sum of $50 under the terms of AR51A for failing to present the registration papers for POOCHA.
As the start was effected BEYOND SUCCESS (B Appo) jumped away awkwardly.
At approximately the 700 metre mark EVRY HANDOUT (J Piper) shifted outwards which hampered the running of POOCHA (D Lloyd).
It was reported by Trainer K Lynch that BAANYA'S BEST (M Barnham) returned to the enclosure with its tongue over the bit. Mr Lynch has advised the Stewards that he is putting a tongue tie on the horse for its next start.

RACE 3: SPECIAL CONDITIONS H'CAP - 1000 METRES (10 STARTERS)

Jockey J Stephens advised the Stewards that the saddle on his mount GO ROCKY had slipped at approximately the 200 metre mark of the event which placed him in considerable difficulty to ride his mount over the concluding stages.

RACE 4: 3YO CLASS 2 H'CAP 1100 METRES (13 STARTERS)

The Stewards issued a severe reprimand to Jockey Stan Watkins for allowing his horse OVERSEAS to shift inwards at the 900 metre mark inconveniencing the running of IRIANA STAR (D Simmons).
STAN'S GIFT (J Marks) hung outwards from the 600 to the 400 metre marks.

RACE 5: MAIDEN H'CAP - 1300 METRES (13 STARTERS)

KWILA QUEEN (G Evans) jumped away awkwardly as the start was effected.
Trainer Alan Alberts was fined the sum of $50 for presenting IF IT FITS in the enclosure with the incorrect gear.

At approximately the 600 metre mark SEAT OF KNOWLEDGE (App T Mathieson) had to be steadied to avoid racing onto the heels of EIRIE RETREAT (S Watkin).
At approximately the 300 metre mark STUDLEY ROYAL (NZ) (B Appo) shifted outwards and inconvenienced the running of THE GINZA (D Whitmore).
At approximately the 200 metre mark STEFAMA (J Marks) shifted outwards and hampered the running of WESTERN BRONZE (M Barnham).

LOKIE'S COURAGE (C Johnston) was ridden aggressively in the early and middle stages of the event but failed to run on over the final stages.

RACE 1: THE SOUTHPORT SCHOOL CUP CLASS 6 H'CAP - 1018M.

Trainer T Webb advised stewards that he was instructing B Appo to ride POLLYANNA ANNA hands and heels only, as he is of the opinion that the mare does not give any extra when hit with the whip.

At the start TRUSCAN, which jumped with its head in the air made contact with MINT REGENT when taken out by DAPPER STAR, which jumped out.

CORRIDOR WHISPERS jumped awkwardly.

Shortly after the start CORRIDOR WHISPERS was steadied from the heels of DAPPER STAR (P Spry), which shifted in. P Spry was reprimanded for permitting his mount to shift ground when not clear to do so.

Approaching the 800m POLLYANNA ANNA made contact with the running rail. Shortly after POLLYANNA ANNA was crowded for room by BANYULA BRAVE, which was lying in and away from CORRIDOR WHISPERS.

Leaving the 400m BOOM SOUND was forced wider on the track by TRUSCAN, which shifted out to obtain clear running.

Time off 3.55 pm.

RACE 2: CHURCHIE CUP MAIDEN H'CAP - 1018M.

DARAIN (D Green) jumped awkwardly and in striking the rider's knee on the gate.

TARATA BAY and NEED T'SEE made contact on jumping.

FEARLESS RACER and URAGAN jumped awkwardly.

Shortly after the start URAGAN and CRAIGLEA LUCK were cramped for room between CLANGS PRIDE, which shifted in and NEED T'SEE, which was taken out marginally by TARATA BAY.

Approaching the 100m D Green (DARAIN) accidentally struck FEARLESS RACER across the nose with his whip.

A veterinary examination of DAHRAIN, which was making an unusual noise through its nostrils on returning to scale, failed to reveal any abnormality.

Time off 4.35 pm.

RACE 3: ST MARGARET'S CLASS 2 H'CAP - 1119M.

BOLD HEART, which reared and pulled away from the barrier attendant whilst proving difficult to load, was withdrawn by stewards at 5.15 pm. Deductions on all win bets were paid less 4 cents in the $1 win and 5 cents in the $1 place. Trainer G Winning was advised that BOLD HEART was required to barrier trial to the satisfaction of stewards prior to being permitted to start again.

RANCHO RHYTM and SWEET CITY SIOUX made contact on jumping. SWEET CITY SIOUX then shifted in making contact with the hindquarters of BABYLON QUEEN.

COUNTY SPIRIT jumped awkwardly.

Near the 900m BABYLON QUEEN was steadied as CARISSIMA crossed.

Leaving the 800m PLAY PRINCE got its head up for a short distance whilst being eased from the heels of CARISSIMA as the pace eased.

Leaving the 700m COUNTY SPIRIT raced with its head up for a short distance.

COUNTY SPIRIT returned to scale with blood in its mouth.

Time off 5.16 pm.

RACE 4: THE TOOWOOMBA PREP CLASS 3 H'CAP - 1529M.

On returning to scale C Spry (SPLIT THE WIND) rider of the second horse lodged an objection against LUILATUI (G Lynch) being declared the winner for alleged interference over the concluding stages. After hearing evidence from riders, connections and viewing of the patrol film, stewards dismissed the objection, as they were opinion that the degree of interference did not warrant the objection being upheld. At a subsequent inquiry it was found that ALWAYS TRUMPS, LUILATUI and SPLIT THE WIND shifted out over the concluding stages of they're on accord. However approaching the 100m STYLE QUEEN was eased away from the heels of SPLIT THE WIND, which was taken out marginally by LUILATUI jockey G Lynch was reminded of his responsibilities in keeping his mount straight.

Connections advised stewards that they intended to instruct B Calkin to ride BLETCHMORE back in the field in the early and middle stages.

LUILATUI, COSMIC COMET and BLETCHMORE were slowly away.

OXFORD BELLE knuckled approaching the 1200m.

Leaving the 800m LUILATUI was steadied from the heels of REBEL CHIEF.

COSMIC COMET made the home turn wide.

Approaching 200m LUILATUI was held up for clear running.

Time off 5.50 pm.

RACE 5: THE GLENNIE CUP CLASS 5 H'CAP - 1219M.

SPECIAL SILVER jumped out making heavy contact with SELF TITLED, which then made contact with the hindquarters of BAY DUKE, which jumped awkwardly.

NICTOM jumped awkwardly.

Leaving the 1000m SELF TITLED got its head up and was inclined to race ungenerously.

Near the 850m NICTOM was crowded for room by SELF TITLED, which shifted in whilst lying in.

Approaching the 600m SELF TITLED got its head up whilst being checked from the heels of GRACEWICK.

BAY DUKE raced wide in the middle stages.

RACE 6: SLADE CUP FILLIES & MARES MAIDEN H'CAP - 1219M.

OUR PARTY LIGHT, NIGELA and CONDOBLIN jumped awkwardly.

Leaving the 400m OUR PARTY LIGHT was held up for clear running.

Near the 200m WINDY was eased when disappointed for a run to the inside of DIVA DIVINE.

Leaving the 200m BOX BROWNIE was crowded for room by MY MISS SPRITELY (B Appo), which shifted in. B Appo was reprimanded for permitting his mount to shift ground when not clear to do so.

Approaching the 100m OUR PARTY LIGHT was checked from the heels of CONDOBLIN, which was losing ground. OUR PARTY LIGHT was then held up for clear running for the remainder of the race.

Approaching the 800m NIGELA (R Morris) was checked and lost ground when tightened for room by STAR AHOY (S McDonald), which was taken in by WIRRADILLA (M Kawaguchi). After taking evidence from B Appo (MY MISS SPRITELY), S McDonald, M Kawaguchi and R Morris, stewards gave B Appo and M Kawaguchi the benefit of a reasonable doubt as on film, it did appear that B Appo may have dictated the line of M Kawaguchi, also M Kawaguchi's mount appeared to be lying in.

Trainer T Hamade was advised that prior to its next start, a veterinary clearance was required for CONDOBLIN, which weaken quickly in the home straight.

RACE 7: THE FLOWER & HART ARCHBISHOP'S CUP CLASS 1 H'CAP - 1320M.

Trainer J Dann was advised that JUMATTY, which was difficult to load, must pass a barrier jumpout to the satisfaction of stewards prior to its next start.

At the start ALTAREG and HILLGROVE EXPRESS were severely hampered by JUST SCRUMPTIOUS, which jumped out.

DEBBIE'S PRIDE was slowly away.

Near the 900m JUDICIAL REPORT brushed the running rail when momentarily crowded for room by WOODSAW.

Approaching the 800m HILLGRIVE EXPRESS was steadied from the heels of WOODSAW, which rolled out marginally.

JUDICIAL REPORT raced keenly in the middle stages.

Leaving the 400m JUMATTY was held up for clear running.

Approaching the finish JUMATTY, which shifted in, made contact with JUST SCRUMPTIOUS.

JUMATTY returned to scale with a laceration to the near hind leg.

As G. Geran was to be overweight, N. Evans was substituted as the rider of SCHICK. Following an explanation, G. Geran was reprimanded.

TAKE YOUR LEAVE was a late scratching for veterinary reasons.

INKERMAN, SCHICK and NOREBO LASS were all slow to begin.

Shortly after jumping away, HESSVEE and SPECIAL KNOWLEDGE bumped on several occasions.

A charge of careless riding has been issued against G. Lynch, rider of KEEPETH, in that near the 1400m. he rode in a careless manner by allowing his mount to shift in, resulting in AREPO being taken in on to SPECIAL KNOWLEDGE, causing that horse to be tightened for room and forced in on to HESSVEE, which had to be checked and lose its position. G. Lynch was suspended from riding in races for a period covered by 10 meetings, to commence at midnight, 21 September, and to expire at midnight, 7 December 2002.

RACE 2: NEW MEMBERS H'CAP - 1100M.

Trainer W. Farrington was fined $50 for failing to notify M. Crawford as the rider of WAYNE'S SHOT within the prescribed time.

TARA'S HOPE was a late scratching on veterinary advice at 1.26 p.m. Subsequent to the event, all monies invested on TARA'S HOPE were ordered to be refunded, with deductions made in accordance with the Racing and Betting Act - i.e. 10 cents in the dollar on the face value of win and place bets, applicable to bets placed prior to the withdrawal time.

GENTLEMAN JOHN, which proved difficult to load, delaying the start, was declared ineligible to race until it passes a further barrier test.

On jumping away, NOT FUSSED and STAR HEART made contact .

WAYNE'S SHOT jumped outwards at the start, making contact with COUNT TARSHO.

After travelling a short distance, STAR HEART shifted outwards, forcing GINA FLASH and GENTLEMAN wider on the track.

WISE PROSPECTOR ran wide making the first turn, forcing WAYNE'S SHOT wider on the track.

NOT FUSSED was obliged to race wide in the early and middle stages.

RACE 3: NEW COMMITTEE H'CAP - 1100M.

ABSROSI and BOUNDARIES were slow to begin.

PYE raced wide throughout the event.

When questioned concerning the seemingly disappointing performance of SECRET GARDENS, A. Parramore stated that after travelling a short distance the horse commenced to hang out and hung out for the remainder of the race. He also reported that the bit pulled through the horse's mouth.

A post race veterinary examination of BOUNDARIES revealed the gelding to have sustained lacerations to the near hind leg.

RACE 4: HEART OF LOCKYER H'CAP - 860M.

SINGING CLOUD was a late scratching for veterinary reasons.

A warning was issued to the connections of KNOW NOW, which proved difficult to load.

ACE'S CHILD proved difficult to load, hung out and raced uncompetitively. Trainer K. Stanier was advised that the gelding would be required to barrier trial satisfactorily prior to its next race start.

BALLYTULS, which hung out, raced greenly throughout the event and finished some distance from the bulk of the field, was also declared ineligible to race until it trials to the satisfaction of the stewards.

A veterinary examination of ACES'S CHILD, which finished a distant last, revealed the gelding to be shin sore in both forelegs.

RACE 5: BACK ON TRACK H'CAP - 860M.

SAIL THE WIND shifted out at the start, hampering GENERAL DERBY.

ALDERNITY LAD was obliged to race wide throughout the event.

A post race veterinary examination of ALDERNITI LAD revealed the gelding to have sustained a small puncture wound to the near hind fetlock.

RACE 6: VANDERFIELD MACHINERY GATTON H'CAP - 2000M.

On jumping away, SAHARA CANNY shifted out, hampering GOLD HEART.

ZINTA made the turn out of the straight on the first occasion awkwardly, forcing GOLD HEART to be hampered and taken out on to SINNERS.

SHADEAL PRINCE made the turn out of the straight on the first occasion awkwarldy.

Near the 700m., ZINTA blundered when commencing to take a run in restricted room between SINNERS and SHADEAL PRINCE, which shifted ground slightly when under pressure.

RACE 7: RADIO 4WK H'CAP - 1400M.

L. Fitzsimmons, rider of GOLD KING, was found guilty of a charge of careless riding, in that he permitted his mount to shift in near the 1000m. when not clear of BROTHER LEO being taken in on to NAKED SPUR, which was tightened for room and forced in on to FAIR RALEIGH, which had to be checked. L. Fitzsimmons was suspended from riding in races for a period covered by 8 meetings, to commence at midnight 21 September, and to expire at midnight, 5 October 2002.

On straightening, GOLD KING shifted out and made contact with JESTERANA on 2 occasions. L. Fitzsimmons, rider of GOLD KING, was cautioned for permitting his mount to shift ground and instructed to take greater measures to keep his mounts straight in the run to the finish.

RACE 8: POHLMANS NURSERY H'CAP - 1100M.

SHATRI MAGIC was slow to begin.

Approaching the 800m., SHATRI MAGIC, when racing keenly, accidentally struck the heels of LUSKIN DREAMS and blundered.

S. Aizawa, rider of BOLD ANTICIPATION, was reprimanded for permitting his mount to shift in approaching the finish line, resulting in LUSKIN DREAMS being tightened for room.

A veterinary examination of LUSKIN DREAMS following the event revealed the gelding to have sustained lacerations to the near hind cannon.

Golden Goose jumped inwards at the start making heavy contact with O' So Dapper who lost ground. Approaching the 800 metre mark Stafindale lost ground when the horse was unable to hold it's racing position at that point of the race.

RACE 3: Class 2 Handicap 1200 metres

Dealer's Draw was fractious in the barrier prior to the start and when the gates were released the mare attempted to sit down. Subsequently the horse lost a considerable amount of ground.

RACE 4: Class 6 Handicap - 1200 metres

Apprentice L Attard was charged and found guilty of a breach of the rules under the terms of AR 8 (e) (Negligence) in that he failed to have in his possession his winning rides book at the meeting. In arriving at penalty Stewards took into consideration that this was the second week in a row that apprentice Attard had been in breach of this rule. Therefore it was the decision of the Stewards to fine him the sum of $100.00 (100 dollars). Apprentice Attard pleaded guilty to the charge

RACE 1: ICCI QUEENSLAND H'CAP - 1350M.

At the entrance to the straight, NO MORE KISSES had to be steadied to avoid the heels of THE MOSSY BANK KID, which shifted out.

RACE 2: AUSTRAL MOTORS VOLKSWAGEN PLATE - 1350M.

MAGIC RAINBOW and STREET WALKER were slow to begin.

FOOTWEAR shifted out on jumping away, making contact with LAURIE'S FOLLY, which shifted out and made contact with JAROSLAV.

MAGIC RAINBOW was held up for clear running in the early stages of the straight.

RACE 3: WYNDHAM ESTATE H'CAP - 1200M.

PERONISTA blundered on jumping away, then shifted in, making contact with LET'S GROOVE.

BARSHALLAH was slow to begin.

SPECIAL LANGFUHR jumped awkwardly.

SEQUILLION hung out after leaving the 700m. and continued to do so for the remainder of the event.

Making the home turn, PERONISTA was inconvenienced when tightened for room by NUZZLE, which was taken in by HAMAH.

NUZZLE was disappointed for a run to the inside of SOLARUS inside the 200m..

BARSHALLAH, which finished a distant last, was examined by the club's veterinary surgeon and found to be shin sore in both forelegs. Trainer P. Duff advised that BARSHALLAH would be spelled immediately.

RACE 4: ROZ MCRAE H'CAP - 1650M.

TOODALOO was slow to begin.

M. Carson, rider of the third placegetter, BELLE PAREZ was reminded of his obligations to ride his mounts right out to the finish line.

RACE 5: GIANNIS RESTAURANT H'CAP - 1200M.

GOLDEN SNITCH jumped awkwardly.

LADY BREAKFAST was obliged to race wide in the early and middle stages.

Making the home turn, SIAMESE hung out when tiring, resulting in LADY BREAKFAST having to shifted out abruptly to avoid that filly's heels.

At the entrance to the straight, JANEY JEAN shifted in abruptly to avoid the heels of the tiring SIAMESE, resulting in TENNESSEE LYRIC having to be steadied.

After leaving the 300m., Z. Purton, rider of GOLDEN SNITCH, attempted a run between SIAMESE and DANATINA where there was doubtful room. As a result, GOLDEN SNITCH made contact with the hind quarters of DANATINA, which became unbalanced. Z. Purton was advised that in similar circumstances he must exercise greater care than he had shown on this occasion.

LOVE A SONG was inclined to lay in under pressure over the concluding stages.

RACE 6: BIN 222S H'CAP - 1040M.

MY TEMPEST and MELREBEM LAD came together on jumping away.

Making the first turn, HERMIT shifted in, taking MIAMI DRIVE in on to MY TEMPEST, which had to be steadied off the heels of RETSIL, which shifted out.

Near the 600m., ROYAL OPERA shifted in and made contact with MELREBEM LAD.

Over the concluding stages, ALL THAT GLITTER was inconvenienced by ROYAL OPERA, which shifted out.

Apprentice R. Hurley was questioned regarding the disappointing performance of MELREBEM LAD. He stated that the gelding travelled well until entering the straight where he placed the gelding under pressure. He further added that in previous preparations MELREBEM LAD had always raced well when fresh. A veterinary examination of MELREBEM LAD following the event failed to reveal any abnormality.

RACE 7: BIN 555S H'CAP - 1040M.

GREAT CRUSADER shifted out at the start and made contact with SUNDIAL.

Making the first turn, NO INTENTION had to be restrained to avoid the heels of SWIRLER, which shifted in.

Near the 600m., after being brushed by NIGHT TO REMEMBER, SWIRLER shifted in, resulting in SAHARA COVET having to be steadied. SWIRLER continued to lay in for the remainder of the race.

When questioned as to whether he had ridden SPIRIT OF NORWAY right to the finish line, G. Duffy stated he elected to ride his mount out with his hands only as he was aware that the gelding had resented being struck with the whip on previous occasions. G. Duffy's explanation was accepted.

RACE 8: BRETT MCKINNON H'CAP - 1110M.

Shortly after the start, FRAMEWORTHY had to be checked when tightened for room between BIRKDALE LAD and VAIN AND HANDY, which shifted in slightly.

Approaching the first turn, NORTHERN CRUSADER improved quickly to the inside of the heels of PRECIFIC where there was insufficient room and as a result had to be steadied.

Near the 700m., when being restrained off the heels of LACRYMA BAY, TETHYS' TROJAN shifted out, forcing STORMY BLUE and FAIR DECREE wider on the track.

Over the concluding stages, NORTHERN CRUSADER was buffetted for room between FRAMEWORTHY and BEAUTY KINGDOM, which shifted in under pressure.

BUCK'S PEARL was slow to begin.

ROJAH LADY jumped inwards at the start, making contact with GRAND LOVER.

After passing the 600m., SUMMER CLANG was momentarily tightened for room between CERAUNO and CLASSY PRINCE, both of which shifted ground.

Near the 500m., BUCK'S PEARL improved up on to the heels of CERAUNO, then shifted out and brushed SUMMER CLANG.

A post race veterinary examination of TEAKER'S BLUE STAR failed to reveal any visible abnormalities.

RACE 2: YALUMBA WINES H'CAP - 1000M.

MIGHT BE MAGIC was hampered on jumping away between MANU and MAGIC MOUNTAIN, both of which shifted ground.

A short distance later, MAGIC MOUNTAIN shifted out and made contact with MIGHT BE MAGIC.

Approaching the 800m., SUPREME WILL had to be steadied off the heels of MANU, which shifted in. B. Stewart, rider of MANU, was advised to exercise more care.

Nearing the 600m., NEVER NEVER LAND had to be steadied off the heels of MANU, which shifted in.

MAGIC MOUNTAIN shifted in and made contact with the running rail rounding the home turn.

DUAL SUCCESS was forced to raced wide throughout the event.

RACE 3: S & D POWERLINE CONTRACTORS H'CAP - 1000M.

EMERALD ZEEL was declared a late scratching at 11.55 a.m. acting on veterinary advice.

LUCKY ACE was forced to race in a 3-wide position until after straightening.

When questioned regarding the performance of RORY'S NORTH, trainer S. Kumpikas stated she was disappointed with the finishing effort of the colt, adding that RORY'S NORTH had worked strongly leading up to today's event and was confident of its winning chances. Miss Kumpikas undertook to report any abnormality which may become apparent with horse in the days following the event which may have had a bearing on the performance.

RACE 4: CALOUNDRA RSL H'CAP - 1400M.

SOBROTH was a late scratching at 9.30 a.m. for acceptable reasons.

A'SQUADRO was slow to begin.

An inquiry has been opened into the handling of DOUBLE PRINT. After taking evidence from apprentice jockey L. Fitzsimmons and trainer Mr L. Ross, the inquiry was adjourned to Tuesday, 17 September to enable trainer Mr L. Mayfield-Smith, master of L. Fitzsimmons, to be present.

A veterinary examination of DOUBLE PRINT following the event failed to reveal any abnormality.

RACE 5: BIG KART TRACK PTY LTD H'CAP - 1300M.

UP TRUMPS shifted in at the start, making heavy contact with DARTANYON, resulting in DARTANYON shifting in abruptly, severely hampering TOMO'S PRIDE, LUCKY EYES and TOUCH PRINCE. As a consequence of this incident, TOUCH PRINCE then made heavy contact with WALLUMBAH GOLD, which had to be checked after being forced across the heels of WICKED WOMAN.

K. Cunningham, rider of QUEENSBURY ROAD, was found guilty of a charge of careless riding, in that near the 950m. she made insufficient effort to prevent her mount from hanging in, resulting in UP TRUMPS having to be checked. K. Cunningham was suspended from riding in races for a period covered by 6 meetings, to commence at midnight, 15 September, and to expire at midnight, 25 September 2002.

A veterinary examination of WICKED WOMAN following the event failed to reveal any visible abnormality.

RACE 6: QUEENSLAND PINE COMPANY FURNITURE IN THE RAW H'CAP - 1600M.
