r6amalfi.jpg (19678 bytes)Victoria Derby winner Amalfi is again headed to the paddock before a return to the track in the autumn carnival.

The talented enzed bred galloper has pleased trainer Peter Moody with his current condition and he is confident he will make a successful return from injury.

"He's currently in my Brisbane stables," Moody said today. "But he is going out in the paddock for a spell soon."

"We will then bring him back for either weight-for-age or the better handicap style races," he added.

r4petermoody.jpg (9728 bytes)"He's a high class horse and I look forward to him returning to the races," Moody told Cyberhorse.

Amalfi shot to prominence when he and Damien Oliver outgunned the roughie Zarek in last year's VRC Derby at Flemington.

That win followed an impressive lead up success in the Group Two Norman Robinson Stakes at Caulfield, where he swept past the leaders quickly to win nicely.

Moody is hoping his recent good run in Melbourne continues to Moonee Valley on Saturday when he saddles up his exciting three-year-old Schumpeter in the Carlton Draught Quality over 1600 metres.

Damien Oliver will be in the saddle of the Encosta de Lago youngster, who will have blinkers for the first time on the weekend.

Jockey Coombes stated that he rode his mount very hard in the early stages of the event in an endeavour to hold his racing position and approaching the 600 metre mark the horse got on the wrong leg and therefore shifted outwards sharply across the heels of DINGLE DOOLIN and continued to shift out for the remainder of the event.
