On returning to scale A Gillett rider of the 3rd horse ARAKHAN lodged an objection against SAMSUN (J Hoopert) being declared 2nd for alleged interference leaving the 800m. After hearing evidence from riders, connections and viewing of the film, stewards dismissed the objection as they were of the opinion that ARAKHAN contributed to the incident by shifting away from SAMSUN when tightened for room by that horse. At a subsequent inquiry it was established that SAMSUN (J Hoopert) whilst racing greenly shifted in tightening the running of ARAKHAN, which made contact with the running rail. BEECIES GOLD, which was racing behind ARAKHAN, shifted out abruptly when it struck the heels of ARAKHAN. J Hoopert was subsequently reprimanded for tightening the running of ARAKHAN. TIGER MALT and FAIR RALEIGH were slowly away.

Leaving the 800m CROWN APPROVAL was tightened for room by ROYAL CARTOOSH, which was taken in by PITTAPADDY (P Moodie). Shortly after FAIR RALEIGH and NED'S GAME were severely hampered between PITTAPADDY and ROYAL CARTOOSH, which shifted out to relieve the pressure to CROWN APPROVAL. Stewards were of the opinion that FAIR RALEIGH, which was pulling hard had contributed to the incident by improving between NED'S GAME and ROYAL CARTOOSH where there was insufficient room. P Moodie was reprimanded for permitting his mount to shift in when not clear of ROYAL CARTOOSH.
