RACE 1: JBM NEYROLOGY PTY LTD MAIDEN H'CAP - 1012M.

MR. DOOLEY and BUSH PILOT made contact on jumping.

Shortly after MR. DOOLEY was eased when crowded for room between BUSH PILOT and MISS DANTE.

Approaching the 850m SAHARA CANNY was eased when crowed for room by DAWN GLANCES.

DAWN GLANCES was eased from heels for some distance leaving the 600m.

Leaving the 200m DAWN GLANCES was disappointed for a run between BUSH PILOT and BOLD ANTICIPATION, which shifted out.

AGITATOR was held up for clear running over the last 250m.

BOLD ANTICIPATION and ASTUTE SPRITE raced wide throughout.

CYLAB, which returned to scale with blood in both nostrils, was stood down from racing for a period of three (3) months.

Jockey W Cook was found guilty of a careless riding charge in that near the 800m he permitted his mount DO AS I SAY to shift in when insufficiently clear of AGITATOR, causing that horse to be taken in tightening the running of SMOKE THE PIPE, resulting in both AGITATOR and SMOKE THE PIPE being checked. W Cook was suspended from riding in races for a period of 10 meetings to take affect as of mid - night 19-08-02 and to expire at mid - night 4-09-02.

Jockey P Moodie was found guilty of a careless riding charge in that he permitted his mount BUSH PILOT to shift in over the concluding stages when insufficiently clear of BOLD ANTICIPATION, resulting in BOLD ANTICIPATION being checked when tightened for room. P Moodie was suspended from riding in races for a period of 7 meetings to take affect as of mid - night 17-08-02 and to expire at mid - night 29-08-02.

RACE 2: LEN PATTI MOTORS MAIDEN H'CAP - 1213M.

Shortly after the start ROLLING ALONG, BOLD DANE and STARLIGHT QUEEN were crowded by FLAME WALKER, which shifted out.

Approaching the 850m IN SYNC was steadied when crowded for room by ROLLING ALONG (W Cook).

Leaving the 800m STARLIGHT QUEEN made contact with the hindquarters of SCENIC WELLS, when taken out by PARIS RHYME, which shifted out whilst racing keenly.

Approaching the 550m IN SYNC brushed the running rail when momentarily crowded for room by ROLLING ALONG.

Near the 250m BYAMBEE was steadied when crowded for room by ROLLING ALONG.

STARLIGHT QUEEN raced wide throughout.

REGAL SIREN returned to scale lame in the near hind. A subsequent veterinary examination revealed that the gelding had a probable problem with the stifle joint. Trainer P Cox was advised a Veterinary clearance is required for REGAL SIREN prior to its next start.

SCENIC WELLS developed a dome like swelling on both shoulders after returning to the tie up stalls. Club veterinary surgeon advised trainer C Brown to have horse examined by stable vet.

Time off 4.39 pm.

RACE 3: LEN PATTI MOTORS FILLIES & MARES CLASS 2 H'CAP - 1113M.

LADY ARABELLA was slowly away.

MISS D'VINA jumped with its head in the air.

Approaching the 800m SPANISH ARRAY shifted in and made contact with CRAIGLEA GREENE.

Near the 800m KALIQUE was eased when tightened for room by CARISSIMA, which was taken in by MORE DIAMONDS (C. Eaton). C. Eaton was advised of her obligations when shifting ground.

Approaching the 700m CARISSIMA was eased when SPANISH ARRAY (M. Gray) shifted in. M. Gray was advised of his obligations when shifting ground.

Leaving the 400m ENYIA CARRATE was held up for clear running.

CARISSIMA, over the concluding stages, raced in restricted room to the inside of OUR SHOUT.

RACE 4: J J RICHARDS & SONS PTY LTD CLASS 3 H'CAP - 1113M.

At the start OUR FABIO jumped in making heavy contact with CASH ?N' CARRY, which then made heavy contact with SEAHAWK LASS, which made contact with the hindquarters of WOLF WALKING.

From the 650m to the 550m OUR FABIO brushed the running rail on a number of occasions.

Time off 5.55 pm.

RACE 5: PROVINCIAL DISTRIBUTORS PTY LTD CLASS 5 H'CAP - 1213M.

YARRABILLI and CAPANNELLE were slowly away.

NOBLE EFFORT knuckled on jumping.

Near the 1000m CAPANNELLE made contact with the running rail when taken in by SELF TITLED (R Goltz). YARRABILLI, which was racing behind CAPANNELLE, was steadied in the incident. R Goltz was reprimanded for permitting his mount to shift ground when not clear to do so.

CAPANNELLE and SELF TITLED then got their head up and over - raced for some distance.

Time off 6.30 pm.

RACE 6: AMALGAMATED PEST CONTROL CLASS 2 H'CAP - 1535M.

Due to a printer's error in the racebook, C Eaton was shown as the rider of LUILATUI, whereas W Cook was the declared rider.

Trainer M Buswell was fined the sum of $50 for failing to declare the rider for OXFORD BELLE by the required time.

Leaving the 1300m TRUE GRUNT raced ungenerously for some distance whilst over - racing.

Near the 1100m LUILATUI was eased from the heels of NOBLE MOSES, which got its head up whilst being eased from the heels of SPINOUT as the pace slowed.

Shortly after ZULU WARRIOR was eased from the heels of LUILATUI, which shifted out.

Near the 350m ZINTA was eased from the heels of TRUE GRUNT, which was weakening.

On the point of the home turn NOBLE MOSES, which was taken out by OAKEY JEWEL, made contact with the hindquarters of LUILATUI. OAKEY JEWEL then shifted in tightening the running of ZINTA and TRUE GRUNT, resulting in TRUE GRUNT being checked. Stewards took no action against any rider because of the contributing circumstances.

Near the 200m ZINTA was steadied when disappointed for a run.

Jockey W Cook was found guilty of a careless riding charge in that he permitted his mount LUILATUI to shift in near the 1250m when insufficiently clear of ZINTA, resulting in ZINTA being checked. W Cook was suspended from riding races for a period of 12 meetings to take affect as of mid - night 19-08-02 and to expire at mid - night 7-09-02. Stewards ruled that this suspension be served concurrently with the suspension from race 1.

RACE 7: RANSOME & JORDAN CLASS 1 H'CAP - 1313M.

ROYAL SUCCESSOR was slowly away.

At the start RAUTAI'S WARRIOR and RED D'DOR were hampered by SUSCITARE, which jumped out.

Near the 850m RUSSNIAK was eased when tightened for room between SUSCITARE, which shifted in whilst racing ungenerously and NO MATTER WHAT, which shifted out marginally.

Leaving the 850m JUST SCRUMPTIOUS got its head up and shifted out.

STELLAR SPECTRA was held up for clear running in the early stages of the home straight.

When questioned about the disappointing performance of SUSCITARE, jockey B Swanton stated that his mount did not travel well at any stage and is of the opinion that his mount may have come to the end of its preparation, explanation noted.

17th August 2002: Stewards today concluded an inquiry that was opened at the Dalby meeting on 15-08-02, into the tactics that was adopted by N Evans the rider of MILLY'S HAT, a starter in the class 3 handicap over 2000m. After hearing further evidence from N Evans and evidence from trainer P Sexton. N Evans was subsequently found guilty of a charge under AR135 (b) & (c) in that he failed to take all reasonable and permissible measures throughout the race to ensure that his mount was given full opportunity to win or finish in the best possible place in the field. N Evans was suspended from riding in races for a period of 6 weeks to take affect as of mid - night 17-08-02 and to expire at mid - night 28-09-02.

Stewards gave permission for Jockey M Barnham to ride KWILA QUEEN overweight in this event, as there was no other suitable rider available.
Apprentice John Dagan the rider of NIGHT VISION was fined the sum of $100 under the terms of AR92 (12) in that he failed to claim his full allowance.
NIGHT VISION (App J Dagan) was slow into stride as the gates opened.
At approximately the 700 metre mark FOREVER SCARY (App T Mathieson) hung outwards and made minor contact with REGAL KELLINA (S Quick).
At approximately the 250 metre mark REGAL KELLINA (S Quick) shifted in abruptly.

RACE 2: DIV 1 - CLASS 2 H'CAP - 1300 METRES (6 STARTERS)
At approximately the 250 metre mark HIGHEST POWER (S Quick) laid outwards and inconvenienced the running of WAR DRUM (B Appo). Stewards severely admonished Jockey Quick for failing to stop riding and straighten her mount.

RACE 3: DIV 2 CLASS 2 H'CAP - 1300 METRES (5 STARTERS)
MR. INTEGRITY (M Barnham) jumped away awkwardly as the start was affected.

RACE 4: OPEN H'CAP - 1400 METRES (6 STARTERS)
App John Dagan was found guilty of a charge of careless riding under the terms of AR137 (a) in that at approximately the 200 metre mark he permitted his mount FIANDER to shift outwards when insufficiently clear of REGAL REGARD (D Whitmore) resulting in that horse having to be checked and lose its position in the field. Subsequently App Dagan was suspended from riding in races from midnight 20th August 2002 up to and including 31st August 2002 being a period covered by 3 Capricornia region race meetings.

POKER (App J Dagan) was slow into stride as the gates opened.

RACE 1: COUNTDOWN TO CARLTON DRAUGHT GOLDMARKET (WEDNESDAY, 21 AUGUST) H'CAP (FILLIES AND MARES MAIDEN) - 1200M.

LOVE A SONG was slow to begin.

SKY JINKS jumped out at the start, made contact with ICENI and shifted back in and bumped SCARY MONSTER.

A short distance after the start ALPARGATA made contact with ICENI which resulted in that horse shifting in abruptly causing SKY JINKS to be checked after being crowded on to SCARY MONSTER.

Approaching the 900m PLUSH SPLENDOUR was crowded for room between ICENI and SOUL PRINCESS which were both racing greenly.

Leaving the 800m WITH MY which was inclined to lay in, made contact with SKY JINKS which in turn shifted in and made heavy contact with the running rail.

Approaching the 150m SOUL PRINCESS shifted in under pressure and made contact with ELTERWATER which resulted in both runners becoming unbalanced.

Following the event, App. Fujii was stood down by the ambulance official after sustaining a deep cut to his right foot which necessitated medical treatment. Stewards permitted the following riding replacement:

RACE 2: ARCHITECTURAL COLUMNS H'CAP (COLTS, GELDINGS AND ENTIRES MAIDEN) - 1200M.

After jumping away awkwardly ITCHING TO GO knuckled over at the start.

TRISTRAM'S TRUCE and KSAR MAGIC were slow to begin.

Over the concluding stages LUXURY EXPRESS was unable to be fully tested when racing in restricted room to the inside of ELLEMONSTA

RACE 3: VILLABOARD? LINING H'CAP (CLASS 3) - 2200M.

Approaching the 2100m GANGREL had to be steadied off the heels of BETHEL which shifted in.

After leaving the 1400m GANGREL attempted to go forward to improve his position and as a result was obliged to race wide.

M Bennett, the rider of CRAIGLEA FAME, pleaded guilty to a charge under AR137(b) in that he failed to ride his mount out to the end of the race which in the opinion of the stewards had cost him 4th place in the event. M Bennett was fined the sum of $400.

RACE 4: PRIMELINE? WEATHERBOARDS H'CAP (THREE-YEARS-OLD MAIDEN) - 1300M.

ROYAL ARCHWAY was slow to begin.

WORTHY REWARD jumped in at the start and crowded JAFFAJACK on to IRIS KIAP.

Approaching the first turn IRIS KIAP shifted in and lost ground after making heavy contact with the running rail. WORTHY REWARD which was following, reacted adversely to this incident and commenced to race ungenerously for some distance.

A Best the rider of SPIELER accidentally dropped his whip over the concluding stages.

RACE 5: PINERIDGE? LINING H'CAP (CLASS 1) - 900M.

Trainer R Dawson, through his representative, was fined $50 for failing to enact a Transfer of Ownership form for SWEET CHARLOTTE.

The start of this event was delayed when SQUIRTIE BOY needed to be re-saddled in the enclosure.

ELABORATE jumped away awkwardly, shifted in and crowded HOPE TO GLORY on to SEATELL.

Leaving the 850m SEATELL shifted in and away from ELABORATE which resulted in SWEET CHARLOTTE being tightened on to the hind quarters of SQUIRTIE BOY.

GROOVER raced ungenerously in the early and middle stages.

Leaving the 250m EXTERNAL FLAME shifted out to obtain clear running and in doing so forced MCGINTY ROSE and SQUIRTIE BOY wider on the track.

A post race veterinary examination of HOPE TO GLORY revealed the filly to have sustained lacerations to the near hock.

RACE 6: HARDITEX? BASE SHEETS H'CAP (CLASS 1) - 1400M.

CATALINA which reared in the barriers prior to the start and dislodged its rider underwent a veterinary examination and was passed fit to start.

IN CONTROL and MOASCAR were crowded for room at the start between ARINNA and CATALINA both of which shifted ground.

Leaving the 1100m WICKED WOMAN shifted out and made contact with IN CONTROL. As a result IN CONTROL shifted out abruptly and bumped MOASCAR which in turn shifted out and made heavy contact with POP WILL which became unbalanced.

MADIBA and MOASCAR were both obliged to race wide in the early and middle stages.

Shortly after entering the straight until inside the 200m WICKED WOMAN was held up for clear running.

RACE 7: HARDIBRACE? BRACING H'CAP (CLASS 4) - 1400M.

TELCAPRI and COMET WAY were slow to begin.

SLEEK ALI was unable to obtain clear running from rounding the home turn to inside the 200m.

RACE 8: HARDIFLEX? EAVES LINING H'CAP (CLASS 2) - 1200M.

As A ABRAHAMS was indisposed after sustaining a leg injury during the day, stewards permitted T Unwin to be the replacement rider of STAR SENSATION.

Approaching the 900m QUEEN AMIDALA shifted in despite the efforts of its rider causing LITTLE KATERI being taken in which resulted in ADVICE having to steady to avoid that runner's heels.

The photo finish camera failed and the judges made their decision without its aid.
John Kehoe was reprimanded for allowing ADVANCING to run off on the home turn when he dropped the reins while pulling the whip. He continued to ride the horse with the whip and made no attempt to straighten and finished on the outside fence.

RACE 4: CLASS 6 HANDICAP - 1000m
As the gates opened SEMI DANCER jumped in the air losing considerable ground.

RACE 5: OPEN H'CAP - 1200m
Following the race S Oates, the rider of 3rd placed VALPECULAR, requested to view the video of the middle stages of the race. It was found that any inconvenience suffered did not come from the winner. No objection was forthcoming. At a subsequent enquiry J Kehoe, the rider of BOLD COUNTY, was found guilty of a charge of careless riding and suspended up to and including 31/8/2002.

As K Rockett was to be overweight, D Bradbery was substituted as the rider of MAGIC FALL. In the special circumstances outlined by K Rockett, stewards did not impose a penalty, however he was given a clear direction that he must not accept rides unless he was confident that he could make the allotted weight.

SAUCY SALSA was slow in to stride and raced green throughout the race.

MAGIC FALL shifted out over concluding stages of race.

RACE 2: ENVIROTREND, GROW FORCE & PRIMAC CLASS 6 PLATE -1100M

MCCAVITY was slow in to stride.

RACE 3: BLENNER'S TRANSPORT, DARADGEE WELDING WORKS & HARKER T/PORT CLASS 2 H'CAP - 1200M

MISCHA and JESSIE THE CROONER were slow in to stride.

CELESTAMOR shifted out over concluding stages of race.

When questioned regarding the improved performance of CELESTAMOR, trainer P D'Addona stated that she thought by taking the blinkers off and putting a tongue tie on improved CELESTAMOR, note taken. No action was taken.

RACE 4: JOE'S CARTONS, RIBRE CONTAINERS & VISY BOARD CLASS 4 H'CAP - 1500M

Trainer R Tydman was fined the sum of $25 for failing to declare the rider of MOUNTAIN AIR by the required time.

FINAL NOTICE was a late scratching at 3.27 p.m. by order of the stewards acting upon veterinary advise that the horse was lame in both front legs. Trainer L Morton's representative was advised that FINAL NOTICE would require a veterinary certificate prior to his next race start. On announcement of correct weight, all monies invested on FINAL NOTICE were ordered to be refunded, with deductions of 37 cents in the dollar on the face value of win bets, 31cents in the dollar on the face value of place bets, applicable to successful wages placed prior to the withdrawal time.

COUNT TELESTO jumped awkwardly, making contact with the barriers ripping T Kowald's left boot.

EVENSONG tended to over race at the 1200m.

OUR POIKA shifted out over concluding stages of race.

Approaching the home turn, MAGIC MOUNTAIN shifted ground and raced wide in the straight. The trainer of MAGIC MOUNTAIN Mr. I. Dowden was advised a warning is placed on his horse.

LOOK TWICE (D. McMaster) raced greenly throughout the race.

RACE 2: CLASS 2 HANDICAP - 1090M

On jumping away SOUL 'N' SPIRIT (D. McMaster) and TOP BOWL (App. M. Rice) came together.

The winner TIGHT LIPPED was swabbed.

RACE 3: WHITE DIAMOND CUP HANDICAP - 1212M

PASSION POWER (D. McMaster) threw its head up on jumping away and lost ground.

The winner HOOKMAN was swabbed.

RACE 4: CLASS 1 HANDICAP - 1380M

TOLGA DAN was kicked on the off hind leg on its way to the starting point and was inspected by the club vet who passed the horse fit to start.

PERSONNEL (W. Schmidt) jumped inwardly taking RESERVE THE MAGIC (App. M. Rice) in onto CASSIE'S PRINCESS (App. H. O'Hara).

RESERVE THE MAGIC (App. M. Rice) and TOLGA DAN (J. Hoopert) brushed at about the 900 metre mark.

RACE 5: CLASS 4 HANDICAP - 1380M

NOISEY DAN was inspected by the club vet after trainer Mr. I. Chew advised Stewards he believed the horse was stepping short in the near fore leg. After a thorough examination, the club vet reported to Stewards he could not find any abnormalities with the horse.

SIT HERE DEAR and HANNAH'S GOLD brushed at the start.

FAULTY FUSE and REAL ASSET were slow to get into stride.

When questioned about the performance of REAL ASSET Jockey K. Mahoney stated that after the gelding was slow to get into stride he attempted to ride his mount along to obtain a forward position but was caught wide. He said that nevertheless the performance of REAL ASSET was extremely disappointing, bearing in mind that the horse had worked well in the lead-up to today's event. A post-race veterinary examination of REAL ASSET did not reveal any abnormalities.

RACE 2: MAIDEN HANDICAP - 1000 METRES

After beginning awkwardly EDUCATOR was hampered by ZONIK, which jumped inwards at the start.

At the 800 metres BIKINI BOTTOM, which was racing greenly, shifted in and took DEPATRO in onto TOPEKO. In consequence, IMPERIAL AGENT had to be momentarily steadied when taken inside the line of the running rail on the course proper.

From the 600 metres MS HAVOC (K. Mahoney) ran wide, obliging MISS JAMES to race extremely wide. K. Mahoney advised that the saddle on MS HAVOC had shifted shortly after the start, placing him at a disadvantage.

Near the 700 metres ZONIC was severely checked by MISS WILLO, which hung out badly. Trainer Mr R. Fleming was advised that MISS WILLO will be required to trial to the satisfaction of the stewards before being permitted to race again.

RACE 3: CLASS 1 HANDICAP - 1400 METRES

TASTY DROP was slow to begin. On jumping BIKINI LOVE shifted out and contacted TOOBANNA. NUBRICK (L. Critoph) jumped inwards at the start, obliging IRAN BELLE and THE OUTBACK RAT to race in restricted room. L. Critoph was advised that in similar circumstances in future he must make a much greater effort to relieve tightening.

Approaching the first turn WOBBO TOBY shifted in and THE OUTBACK RAT, which was racing to its inside, in turn shifted in and away from WOBBO TOBY resulting in SUJECT being tightened onto the running rail. Near the 850 metres SUJECT again had to be eased off the heels of THE OUTBACK RAT.

At the 600 metres SUJECT and THE OUTBACK RAT were momentarily hampered by PADDY'S SISTER, which shifted in.

On straightening WOBBO TOBY became unbalanced and struck the running rail.

At the 250 metres TASTY DROP was momentarily steadied when crossed by TOOBANNA.

After the race stable foreperson Mr D. Crouch advised that Jockey K. Mahoney reported that BIKINI LOVE had sucked air through the rear passage during the event.

RACE 4: CLASS 3 PLATE - 1630 METRES

Making the first turn HALCYON SEAS got its head up when being restrained and then overraced for some distance.

Approaching the 1000 metres SAWMILL ROAD commenced to overrace and had to be checked off heels.

After the 900 metres QUICK HELLO began to hang out.

Making the home turn MOLLIE and MOUNTAIN AIR brushed.

Near the 50 metres CARBONIZE hung out and had to be steadied off the heels of MOLLIE.

Jockey C. Murphy reported that in her opinion QUICK HELLO had been reluctant to stretch out. A post-race veterinary examination did not reveal any significant abnormality, apart from a long-term hoof problem.

RACE 5: CLASS 6 PLATE - 1000 METRES

When the gates opened CINO shifted out and bumped ENSIGN.

Shortly after the start EL ALAMADOR (S. Watkin), which began awkwardly, shifted in and severely crowded FLYING ASCOT, METROPALIS, and JESTARELLA BOY. S. Watkin was severely reprimanded for failing to make sufficient effort to relieve the tightening. Approaching the 850 metres S. Watkin was obliged to stop riding and straighten EL ALAMADOR when the gelding shifted in again and hampered FLYING ASCOT. A short distance later FLYING ASCOT (P. Cullen) shifted out and checked EL ALAMADOR. P. Cullen was severely reprimanded for shifting ground when not sufficiently clear. In assessing the matter stewards took into account some mitigating circumstances in the incident.

At the 850 metres LUK KAI LUK had to be steadied off the heels of EBONY ARK (M. Young), which shifted in. RAINCOATS was hampered in consequence. M. Young was reprimanded for failing to allow a full two-lengths clearance when crossing.

Near the 400 metres LUK KAI LUK became unbalanced and hit the running rail.

RACE 6: CLASS 5 HANDICAP - 1400 METRES

TROJAN WAR and ARJAYE were slow to begin.

From the 800 metres DEVICE commenced to hang out.

Approaching the 200 metres MARTIAL AIR was taken in and crowded for room by BEATING THE BLUES. WILD AFFAIR, which was racing to the inside of MARTIAL AIR, was also hampered in the incident.

Jockey M. Cullen (WILD AFFAIR) was found guilty of a charge of improper riding under AR.137(a) in that approaching the finishing line he deliberately struck D. Bradbery (MARTIAL AIR) with his whip. After taking evidence from both parties stewards fined M. Cullen $500.

Approaching the finishing line ABBOTT HOUSE shifted out and attempted to savage PASSER PASSION. Trainer Mr E. Sewell was advised that a warning had been placed on the racing manners of ABBOTT HOUSE.

When questioned Jockey A. Cox explained that TROJAN WAR had raced disappointingly throughout and he had eased the gelding down over the concluding stages as he was of the opinion that it was not stretching out fully. A post-race veterinary examination of TROJAN WAR did not reveal any abnormalities.

RACE 7: OPEN HANDICAP - 1630 METRES

As K. Rockett was ill, S. Simon was substituted as the rider of RUFUS EM. K. Rockett will be required to furnish a medical certificate verifying his illness.

Passing the 800 metres OSCA ERIC commenced to hang out badly, and continued to hang out for the remainder of the event. A post-race veterinary examination of OSCA ERIC did not reveal any abnormalities. Trainer Mr G. Farrell was advised that OSCA ERIC will be required to trial to the satisfaction of the stewards before being permitted to race again.

RACE 8: CLASS 3 PLATE - 1200 METRES

As D. Canny was unable to fulfil his engagement for personal reasons, I. Toward was substituted as the rider of RED PYRAMID.

MISREAL was slow to begin. STOP THE WORLD began awkwardly, shifted out and made contact with KAHAYLA. COOLANGATTA was slow to get into stride.

At the 200 metres G. Kliese had to stop riding DOCTOR SILVESTER when he accidentally dropped his offside rein, momentarily placing him at a disadvantage.

Over the final 50 metres RED PYRAMID was unable to obtain clear running.

K. Mahoney (CREDIT LIMIT) returned to scale with a broken whip.

Mr G. Hansen, trainer of Stop The World, reported that the horse had been galloped on and sustained lacerations to both hind legs.

GENERAL:

Mr B. Condon, trainer of DELTA GLOW, was fined $50 for nominating that mare for Race 1, the Three-Year-Old Class 4 handicap, for which it was ineligible (AR.64).

RACE 6: TOWNSVILLE CUP - Saturday, 27th July 2002:

Stewards resumed the inquiry opened on 27th July 2002 into a report from the steward supervising the scales that a towel had been added to the saddle of NATIONAL BID after Jockey S. Watkin had weighed out. After interviewing Jockey S. Watkin, trainer Mr G. Dickson, and stablehand Mr J. Cullen, stewards accepted in full the evidence of the scales steward that S. Watkin had not declared a towel when weighing out, however they could not be fully satisfied as to who had added the towel to the gear, and accordingly no charge was laid. Both parties were reminded of the provisions of AR.118A, which deals with the addition, removal or changing of equipment with which a rider has been weighed out.

Jockey S. Watkin the rider of DARK SCOUT was cautioned for weighing in overweight.

GOODBYE BLUES jumped out at the start and hampered GO RUBEN.

Near the 800m TANGO PRINCE, which was over racing, shifted in and tightened the running of LUCKY BOY.

A post race vet examination of REHAB revealed this gelding to have lacerations and grazes to both hind legs. Trainer J. Knudson stated that REHAB suffered these injuries in the float on
route to the track. He was reminded of his obligations under Australian Rule of Racing 140 in that he must report any condition or occurrence, which may affect a horse's performance.

Race 4 Visyboard Maiden Hcp 1100m 7 Strs.

Jockey A.Cox reported that his mount SHATTERSTAR after being briefly tightened for room near the 800m dropped the bit and refused to stretch out for the remainder of the event.

Race 5 Bowen Tyre & Mechanical "Ben Bolt" Cup Class 4 Hcp 1470m 8 Strs.

Prior to the meeting RAPID CITY was a late scratching when Trainer L. Manzelmann reported that the gelding had an elevated temperature. L.Manzelmann was advised he would have to provide a vet certificate to that effect.

J. Knudson the trainer of FIXED PATH reported that this gelding had suffered a laceration to its neck on route to the track. FIXED PATH was passed fit to start after undergoing a pre race vet examination.

Jockey W. Kenning the rider of third placegetter DEVICE was fined $50 under Australian Rule of Racing 142 in that he neglected to weigh in when required to do so.

No racing incidents to report.

All winners were sent to be swabbed.

A Veterinary examination of MILLY'S HAT, which finished a distance last failed to reveal any abnormality.

Stewards opened an inquiry into the tactics that was adopted by N Evans on his mount MILLY'S HAT, after hearing evidence from N Evans, stewards adjourned the inquiry to give trainer P Sexton the opportunity to attend.

ACTION TIME and SKIP THE COFFEE both jumped out at the start.

Approaching the 600m MALDREAMI became unbalanced for a short distance.

Approaching the 400m SPIRIT OF JACK and SAHARA LOCH were eased from heels.

Approaching the 300m SAHARA LOCH was eased from the heels of SPIRIT OF JACK, which was eased from the heels of MAGICAL MAN, which lost ground abruptly.

When questioned why he eased his mount down over the last 300m, jockey R Goltz (MAGICAL MAN) said that his mount became very unbalanced on the home turn; giving him the impression his mount had broken down. A subsequent veterinary examination of MAGICAL MAN revealed that he had swelling in the muscle above the hock, which was very tender even though the horse did not appear lame, explanation noted.

Time off 2.11 pm.

RACE 5: GOWRIE ROAD CLASS 4 H'CAP - 1200M.

At the start YALLAH VISTA, GOLD MINER'S DREAM and HALO MAN were hampered between BIO MAGIC, which jumped out and CREONA DARKNESS, which jumped in.

GOLD MINER'S DREAM raced wide throughout.

RACE 6: BOWENVILLE HOTEL CLASS 1 H'CAP - 1200M.

At the start ALTAREG was hampered between NOBLE CRUISE, which jumped out and HE'S SO CHEEKY, which jumped in.

ALL SUGARED UP was slowly away.

Near the 1100m MACHTIG PONOTEVICH was tightened for room by FOREST CREEK, which was taken in by MAYFLY (S Katsidis). S Katsidis was reminded of his obligations when his mount is shifting in.

Near the 950m and leaving the 800m ALL SUGARED got its head up whilst being eased from heels.

Near the 800m FOREST CREEK made contact with MACHTIG PONOTEVICH when taken in by MY SHIELA (D Craven). D Craven was reprimanded for permitting his mount to shift in when not clear to do so.

FOREST CREEK was inclined to lie in when crowded for room in both incidents.

On the point of the home turn ALL SUGARED UP was steadied from the heels of NOBLE CRUISE, which shifted out marginally.

Approaching the finish HE'S SO CHEEKY, which shifted in, was eased from the heels of COUNTY SPIRIT.

COUNTY SPIRIT raced wide throughout.

At the start NOT ANOTHER, which jumped in made contact with WISELINK.

Approaching the 1100m KERNAGHAN, TANBRIDGE WAY and GORILLA'S GALORE were hampered by WISELINK, which shifted in and away from NOT ANOTHER, which shifted in abruptly.

Approaching the 200m WISELINK shifted in and brushed NOT ANOTHER.

RACE 8: JANDOWAE HOTEL CLASS 3 H'CAP - 1400M.

SINNERS lost ground when it jumped in the air as the gates opened.

CLIFTON BAY, which jumped awkwardly, got its head up in the early and middle stages whilst over -racing.

At the start SAHARA FLIER jumped in making contact with DEBBIE'S PRIDE.

Leaving the 200m TANZARA was momentarily crowded for room by GUILTY JOKER, which shifted in.

CLIFTON BAY, which returned to scale with blood in both nostrils was stood down from racing for a period of 3 months.

D Hutchins (SIR WINTERWOOD) pleaded guilty to a careless riding charge in that he permitted his mount to shift out approaching the 100m when not sufficiently clear of SINNERS, resulting in SINNERS being checked when tightened for room between SIR WINTERWOOD and SAHARA FLIER. D Hutchins was suspended from riding in races for a period of 7 meetings to take affect as of mid - night 17/08/02 and to expire at mid - night 29/08/02.

KREISLER'S JEWEL was very slow to begin.

MAJOR FORCE tended to overrace approaching the first turn.

RACE 3: RETIREINVEST H'CAP - 1400M

STORM AND TEMPEST was slow to begin.

Leaving the 1000m PERTREECE had to be checked when that horse pulled its way up into a position between SLIM SHADY and ROJAH FOREST where there was insufficient room.

Passing the 800m BANKERS MAGIC had to be checked off the heels of THONG TONG. A short distance later BANKERS MAGIC lost ground when reluctant to hold its position inside MORINDA after being brushed by that horse which had a tendency to lay in.

Inside the 200m ROJAH FOREST faltered badly and shifted in making contact with SEROE COLORADO. In this incident ROJAH FOREST lost ground. A veterinary examination of ROJAH FOREST subsequent to the event failed to reveal any abnormality.

RACE 4: DIPLOMA WORLD TRAVEL QTIS ADDED STAKES H'CAP - 1000M

The start was delayed when INTELLIGENTLY proved difficult to load. Trainer T. Hall was advised that INTELLIGENTLY must pass a further barrier test prior to its next race start.

RODANZA was slow to begin.

RORY'S NORTH jumped away awkwardly and shifted out making heavy contact with DANCE SALLY DANCE.

Approaching the 600m ANNOUNCER shifted in momentarily making contact with INTELLIGENTLY which as a consequence became unbalanced and also shifted in hampering MORINGA'S MERCURY.

RACE 5: K M SMITH FUNERAL DIRECTORS H'CAP - 1200M

After passing the 1000m MILLENNIUM BELLE had to be checked off the heels of JANNEKE which lost ground when reluctant to hold its position inside of FLIGHTING. BANYAN BAY, which was trailing MILLENNIUM BELLE, also had to be checked as a consequence.

MOOKATAN was obliged to race wide in the middle stages.

The Club's veterinary surgeon reported that MILLENNIUM BELLE was found to be lame in the off foreleg following the event.

RACE 6: SENIORS CARD CUP - 1200M

CITICHY was slow to begin.

On jumping away JILLINA BLUE was cramped for room between CLOSE TO DANGER and ELITE TED which jumped out.

On the first turn CITICHY had to be steadied off the heels of AFLAC which shifted in. M. Dracos, the rider of AFLAC, was cautioned and reminded of his obligation to be at least two lengths clear when shifting ground.

A veterinary examination of CITICHY, which compounded in the straight, failed to reveal any abnormality.

RACE 7: JET THERAPY AUSTRALIA H'CAP - 1200M

Correct weight was delayed for a brief period to ascertain whether KATENIAN had been afforded a fair start. This was at the request of the connections of KATENIAN. It was established that just prior to the start being effected KATENIAN had turned its head to the near side and missed the start slightly. Nonetheless, the stewards determined that the gelding had been afforded a fair start and declared correct weight.

When questioned regarding the poor performance of COOLAWIN, apprentice C. Spry stated that he could offer no excuses for the gelding. He added that the horse was never travelling on the bit at any stage of the event and he had gained the impression that something might be amiss with COOLAWIN. A veterinary examination immediately after the event, however, failed to reveal any abnormality and a swab sample was ordered to be taken from COOLAWIN. Trainer M. Currie was at a loss to explain COOLAWIN's disappointing performance and confirmed that the horse had worked well leading into today's event. He undertook to report back to stewards if any abnormality becomes apparent which might explain the horse's performance.

RACE 8: TV DOCTOR H'CAP - 1200M

PROUD MARK jumped away awkwardly. As a consequence G. Baker, the rider of PROUD MARK, made contact with the gates, which caused some minor injuries to his left elbow.

P. Hammersley, the rider of PERLE D'OR, was severely reprimanded for allowing his mount to shift in near the 1000m resulting in KING'S HAVEN, OBOE and BOOBOO being crowded for room. After receiving tightening, BOOBOO commenced to overrace and refused to settle.

Trainer S. Bell was fined $50 for failing to notify the removal of blinkers for SMART DANCER by the prescribed time.

IN KALBAR was a little slow to begin.

SMART DANCER jumped the crossing near the 1500m.. After jumping the crossing, the horse then became unbalanced and shifted in, causing IN KALBAR to be severely checked and blunder when it struck heels.


RACE 2: HELIDON H'CAP - 810M.

Trainer N. Owen was fined $50 for failing to produce the Document of Description for CASH OR CREDIT.

As P. Moodie was indisposed, D. Tanti was substituted as the rider of DIVA DIVINE.

DIVA DIVINE, which jumped awkwardly, shifted out, making heavy contact with KALINGA PIE, forcing that horse out on to BEMBEM MARIA and CASH OR CREDIT.

After travelling a short distance, SUNDAY BELLS shifted out, causing THE RED RECRUIT to be hampered.

CECSAM commenced to hang out shortly after the start, and hung out for the majority of the race. Trainer T. Johnson was advised that CECSAM would be required to trial to the satisfaction of the stewards prior to its next race start.

Rounding the home turn, KALAINGA PIE had to be checked when racing between SUNDAY BELLS and DIVA DIVINE, which hung out. As a result of this incident, CASH OR CREDIT, which was following, had to be checked and shifted out, forcing THE RED RECRUIT out onto SUGAR MILL and CECSAM, which was hanging out.

After straightening, DIVA DIVINE continued to hang out and shifted out, making contact with SUNDAY BELLS.

Near the finish line, DIVA DIVINE again shifted out, inconveniencing SUNDAY BELLS. Trainer G. Cross was advised DIVA DIVINE would be required to trial to the satisfaction of the stewards prior to its next race start.


RACE 3: GRANTHAM H'CAP - 810M.

CLASHER and TOP VALI came together on jumping away.

M. Spriggs, rider of CLASHER, was found guilty of a charge of careless riding, in that near the 500m. he permitted his mount to shift in when not sufficiently clear of ZALZALLA, causing that horse to be checked and lose ground. M. Spriggs was suspended from riding in races for a period covered by 6 meetings, to commence at midnight, 18 August, and to expire at midnight, 28 August 2002.

After passing the 200m., KITCHIKAN, which was under pressure, was cramped between ED'S ACE and UNACCOMPANIED when both horses shifted ground.

When questioned concerning the seemingly disappointing performance of KITCHIKAN, trainer M. Hicks stated that the horse had worked well in preparation for today's race, and was at a loss to explain why the mare had difficulty sprinting from the home turn. A veterinary examination of KITCHIKAN, which was under pressure on straightening, failed to reveal any abnormalities, and a swab sample was taken.


RACE 4: LOWOOD H'CAP - 1100M.

TALK ABOUT REAL jumped inwards at the start, forcing SILVER BELLS in on to CLEMENTINA.

Approaching the first turn, PETE'S PRIDE shifted in abruptly, momentarily hampering CLEMENTINA.

SOVEREIGN FLYER was caught wide after the start and was obliged to race wide for the majority of the event.

CLEMENTINA was held up rounding the home turn and in the early stages of the straight.


RACE 5: FOREST HILL H'CAP - 1100

ABSAROKA and NEIGH HIGH came together on jumping away, and a short distance later, NEIGH HIGH shifted out, hampering VAIN AND HANDY and DONTA BATDY.


RACE 6: LOCKYER RACE CLUB IPSWICH H'CAP - 1100M.

SPIRIT OF NORWAY, FLYING TAAN and MORINGA'S MANDRAKE were all tightened for room between SUNDIAL and LORD KARIOI, both of which shifted ground.

J. Stanley reported that REGULATIONS was inclined to lay in after leaving the 700m..and that he had difficulty fully testing his mount over the concluding stages due to its laying in.

At the 700m. FLYNG TAAN dipped.

The connections of ROYAL ENTOURAGE were questioned regarding the seemingly disappointing performance of the horse, which raced under pressure leaving the 600m. and failed to make any significant ground over the latter stages. Jockey S. Campton confirmed that he was disappointed with the horse's run today and stated that the horse failed to respond to his riding when placed under pressure leaving the 600m.. Trainer L. Kelly also confirmed his disappointment with the horse's performance today, adding that the gelding may be coming to the end of its current preparation. A veterinary examination revealed that ROYAL ENTOURAGE had sustained a laceration to the off fore tendon in running. A swab sample was taken from ROYAL ENTOURAGE.

RACE 7: WITHCOTT H'CAP - 1350M.

A. Merritt, rider of IRISH SON, was found guilty of a charge of careless riding, in that he permitted his mount to shift in near the 500m. when insufficiently clear of SIR WINTERWOOD, causing that horse to be checked. A. Merritt was suspended from riding in races for a period covered by 8 meetings, to commence at midnight 17 August, and to expire at midnight 31 August 2002.

C. Spry, rider of SON OF ROSSI, pleaded guilty to a charge of careless riding, in that he permitted his mount to shift out shortly after straightening, resulting in interference to GRAND ARROW and IRISH SON. C. Spry was suspended from riding in races for a period covered by 7 meetings, to commence at midnight, 17 August, and to expire at midnight, 29 August 2002.

Approaching the 1000m., DESERT DAN hung in despite the efforts of its rider, causing KILLED THE CAT to be tightened for room. In this incident, GRANDE ARROW when being eased away from the heels of KILLED THE CAT, shifted out and brushed SIR WINTERWOOD. C. Eaton, rider of DESERT DAN, explained that due to her mount having a tendency to hang in, she elected to take a trailing position behind the leader, MOONBI CHIEF, rather than have her mount possibly overrace outside the that gelding. She further explained that on straightening, DESERT DAN was reluctant to take a doubtful run between MOONBI CHIEF and KILLED THE CAT and as a result of MOONBI CHIEF then shifting out, DESERT DAN was held up for clear running for the remainder of the straight.

Following the event, trainer N. Ricardo reported KILLED THE CAT had sustained a laceration above the near eye.


RACE 8: LAIDLEY H'CAP - 1350M.

Trainer E. Pugh was questioned concerning the late notification of R. Morris as the rider of HANDSOME CREOLE. Following an explanation, no action was taken.

Apprentice G. Bannister, rider of THE DOCKERMAN, was reprimanded for returning to scale overweight.

HANDSOME CREOLE was slow to begin.

Making the home turn, WINNING RETURN had to be eased when it improved on to the heels of THE DOCKERMAN. WATSFORD'S GOLD, which was trailing, blundered when it accidentally clipped the heels of that runner.

HELLIE MISSED was caught wide and obliged to race wide for the majority of the race.
